Traveling the skies
above Tomorrowland are the trains of the Disneyland Monorail,
introduced in Disneyland in 1959. Today, they offer quick
transportation to the Downtown Disney station and back. If you exit
at the Downtown Disney station, be sure to have your hand stamped so
you can re-enter the park later in the day.
The attraction is currently closed during Tomorrowland
Construction.
The original trains were constructed by Disney, with the
consultation from Alweg, a German company that specialized in the
construction of the first monorails. The trains and track were
quickly constructed in the course of less than two years, and
replaced the Viewliner as the transportation system for
Tomorrowland.
A new monorail fleet is
currently being constructed and should emerge sometime in 2007.
