The Sleeping Beauty Castle was created using the features of many
different castles throughout Europe. While much of the structure
appears to be stone, it was originally built out of mostly wood. The
castle recently was completely remodeled
for the 50th Anniversary. While much
of the decorations from the 50th have been removed, the castle still
features advanced LED lighting for the special effects of 'Remember..Dreams
Come True' Fireworks spectacular.
Unlike Cinderella's
castle at Walt Disney World, there was nothing originally planned
for the inside of the castle. In 1957, in anticipation of the film
Sleeping
Beauty, a walkthrough display area was added featuring many scenes
from the film.
The walkthrough attraction has been closed since September of 2001,
and one of the scenes (the 'kissing scene' as you'll see in the
video clip below) is now featured in a window of
The Emporium.
Rumor has it the walkthrough attraction may return in 2008*
