What's In contest description

Welcome to "What's In," presented by Visions Fantastic

Visions Fantastic (and the PodCast Forum) is proud to present "What's In." Similar to VF Games' Battle of the Disney Villains, we'll start out by accepting nominations for Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, and Walt Disney World's attractions, lands, shows, places, themes, past or present... whatever you think is in. For instance, Frontierland, Disney Castles, the Haunted Mansion, etc. are all eligible for VF's What's In.

Preliminaries and Nominations

We'll start out with nominations. All members of VF are eligible to submit a nomination for a Disney Theme Parks item - nominate whatever you think is "in." You can nominate up to eight Disney Theme Parks items. Eligible items include all attractions, lands, shows, places [including restaurants, stores, and landmarks], and themes, past or present. Disney non-park movies (e.g.: Bug's Life), characters (Flik), non-park or unofficial persons (Walt Disney, any Cast Member) are not eligible for nominations, though certain regularly scheduled entertainment groups (e.g.: Dapper Dans) are eligible, as they encompass more than one or a group of persons (the Dapper Dans have gone through several 'casts'). If you have any doubts about what is and is not an acceptable nomination, send me a Private Message.

Selection and Bracketology

After nominations, we'll form a bracket with however many slots we'll need, be it 16, 32, or even 64. I'll take care of the seeding based on nomination feedback, and after that, we're gonna vote. Voting will take place during a certain period of time for each round (about seven days for each round).

Note that any ties which occur during the First Round (Starting 64) will result in an Expedited Automatic Tie-breaker**. Ties occurring during the Second Round (Round Two: 32), or Third Round (Super 16) will settle according to the Automatic Tie-breaker*. Any ties which occur during the Fourth Round (Excellent Eight), Fifth Round (Finishing Four), or Sixth and Final Round (Championship Match-up), will be decided by an Overtime Period. The Overtime Period is a condensed round of voting, just for those match-ups which ended in a tie. All VF members are eligible to vote in the Overtime Period. If the Overtime Period concludes in another tie, the Fourth and Fifth rounds will enter an Automatic Tie-breaker, while the Sixth Round will enter a Second Overtime Period. *The Automatic Tie-breaker is a process of settling a tie in an earlier round, or a deadlock battle in a subsequent round. The Automatic Tie-breaker has four phases. The first phase is a total of all nominations received for the two items in question. Whichever Item has received more nominations will win the Automatic Tie-breaker. If both Items have received the same amount of nominations, the second phase commences. The second phase of the Automatic Tie-breaker is a running total of all votes the Items have received in previous rounds, if applicable. If still tied, the third phase consists of a margin-of-victory tabulation in previous rounds, if applicable. If still tied, the fourth phase of the tie-breaker is a VF Staff vote. The VF Staff Vote will be a select panel of VF Staff, who are bound to vote for one of the two Items. The VF Staff panel will include an odd number of persons, so as not to enter another voting tie. **The Expedited Automatic Tie-breaker is a process that includes the first phase of the Automatic Tie-breaker, and if needed, adds a unique second phase: the winner will be the Item nominated earlier in the nominations period. If both Items had been nominated at the same time, whichever is placed higher on the nominations list will win the round.

The winning item will become a future theme of a future PodCast Forum episode. If we can, we'll also find exclusive or hard to get audio material related to the winner for inclusion into the VF Radio Request System database.
....All VF'ers who nominate the winning Item will be included in a lottery drawing for one of two VF Premium Memberships. Memberships last one year, and in the event that the winning member(s) already possesses a VF Premium Membership, we'll simply extend the end date of your membership by 12 months. Important Note: To claim your Premium Membership prize, you must send CASD a Private Message within seven (7) days of the announcement of the Premium Membership winners. The announcement has taken place during the What's In championship PodCast Forum episode (Episode 22). If your name has been selected as the Premium Membership winner during Episode 22 of the VF PodCast Forum, you have seven days to send me a Private Message, specifying your intention of claiming the Premium Membership prize. After the eighth day, any unclaimed Premium Memberships will be redistributed to a random selection of the pool of eligible members. May 17 is the expiration date of this offer. To listen to the Awards Show, and the announcement of the Premium Membership winners, click here to download Episode 22 of the PodCast Forum.
