Currently closed during refurbishment and update - Reopens
Summer, 2011
Using
flight simulator technology, guests travel to the moon of Endor,
with a few bumps and bruises on the way. Your captain, "Rex" has
informed the travelers that this is his first flight. Things go
from bad to worse, as the shuttle encounters comets, a Star
Destroyer, and eventually goes into battle against the Death Star
itself. The flight simulator perfectly matches the action on the
screen, with dips, turns and the sensation of speed.
George
Lucas teamed up with the Disney Imagineers and brings the world of
Star Wars to Disneyland. This was not the first collaboration
between Lucas and Disney, as they also teamed up to bring
Captain EO
to the Magic Eye Theatre (and eventually the Indiana Jones
Adventure).
The queue area has
been slightly expanded since the opening of the attraction, and now
a greater number of people can be in line indoors. The queue is
fashioned after a high-tech spaceport, with a full scale replica of
the StarSpeeder 3000. R2-D2 and C3P0 are currently at work servicing
the craft, with the usual back and forth banter the two are well
known for. You continue into the spaceport, then board your
StarSpeeder. The ride, while only a simulation, does shake and dip
depending on what is shown on the large screen. If you suffer from
back ailments or motion sickness, you asked not to ride. The
complete ride, along with the queue, is available in our video clip
below. For your own safety, Disneyland recommends there be no
videotaping during the ride.
After the ride, visit the Starcade and the
Star Trader Shop,
just next door!
