The Peoplemover |

In the early design
phase for Tomorrowland, Walt Disney envisioned a
transportation system that never stopped, and thus, the Wedway
Peoplemover was introduced to the Magic Kingdom in 1967.
The
Peoplemover glides atop a raised track that goes into many
buildings around Tomorrowland, such as Star Tours (which was
once Adventure Thru Innerspace), The Carousel Theater (which
originally hosted The Carousel of Progress, and later America
Sings), out over the Tomorrowland Lagoon and overlooking the
Submarine Voyage and Autopia attractions.
Just before returning to the station, it enters the
CircleVision360 building now Buzz Lightyear's Astro
Blasters).
The PeopleMover was operated by motors in the tracks
themselves. Constantly moving wheels in the tracks (sponsored by
Goodyear tires) propelled the cars along. When the Wedway
Peoplemover at Walt Disney World opened, more high-tech
induction-type motors were used. The Wedway Peoplemover is still in
operation in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World and is now called the
Tomorrowland Transit Authority.
Is the Peoplemover and the Rocket Jets returning to Tomorrowland?
