The Golden Horseshoe has been a icon in Frontierland since the opening in 1955. The Opera House styling of the interior, and the western motif on the outside of the building makes this theater a gem sometimes overlooked by the first-time Disneyland visitor. Just days before the official opening of the park, Walt and Lillian Disney celebrated their Anniversary here, giving special guests and close friends a sneak peek at the park. The maiden voyage of the Mark Twain also took place during this private party. Afterwards, the guests went to Slue Foot Sue's Golden Horseshoe (named after the character in Pecos Bill). Walt and Lillian were introduced, and Walt climbed down from the box seats on the right and joined the others on stage.

The theater has hosted a number of variety acts, comedy and vocal talent throughout it's long legacy. You can see the original Can-Can dancers featured in a new video below, although they are no longer performing in the Golden Horseshoe, it's a fun look at the past. Today, you can catch the hilarious Billy Hill and the Hillbillies several times a day throughout the week (check schedule for showtimes and availability).
