Louboutin Creates Glass Slipper for New Cinderella Release

    ABC News
The Christian Louboutin glass slipper is being released in conjunction with Disney’s Diamond Edition of “Cinderella” this fall, a combo-pack which includes two Blu-Ray discs and a DVD with bonus features, celebrating the beloved classic animated feature, first released in 1950.

“I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world,” the designer told Women’s Wear Daily. The shoes will include the Louboutin signature red soles, seen on Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, and many more celebrities. Although the price of the slippers hasn’t been released, a pair of Louboutin shoes starts at about $600 and can cost up to several thousand dollars.

This isn’t the first time Disney has influenced the world of fashion. Disney Bridal offers princess-inspired gowns and Mouawad launched a Disney engagement ring line in 2009.

I am so jealous that I am not going to get to own a pair of these shoes.

Christian Louboutin designs a slipper for today's Cinderella

    USA Today
On Thursday, high-end shoe designer Christian Louboutin reveals his re-imagining of Cinderella's glass slipper, thanks to a new collaboration with Disney. And in the spirit of the fairy tale, the designer will anoint one lucky U.S. fan as his Cinderella and gift her with a free limited-edition pair. Though Louboutin's slipper will not be produced for mass sale, 20 pairs will be given away worldwide this fall, turning "anyone into modern-day Cinderellas," Louboutin says. Disney and Louboutin will release details on the giveaway Aug. 17.

In creating the shoe, the movie studio reached out to the designer, whose red-soled heels are as coveted as they are pricey, in advance of Cinderella's Blu-ray release Oct. 2. Lori MacPherson, executive vice president of global product management at Disney, calls the shoe "possibly the most iconic shoe in literature" and says the Louboutin collaboration is a "fitting tribute."
