Downtown Disney store prepares for closure
Orange County Register
Compass Book Store and Cafe is winding down its final days of operation at Downtown Disney as the company shifts the mix of venues in the entertainment-shopping district. Compass is holding a clearance sale, reducing prices by 30 to 50 percent on books and gifts, until its last day March 31. A nearby kiosk, which sells magazines and sundries, also will close.
Michael Tucker, president of Books Inc. that runs Compass, said Disney and the company made a mutual decision to close the Compass location, which has run in Downtown Disney since it opened in 2001. Tucker said Disney has a “new vision” for businesses in Downtown Disney.
This summer, Earl of Sandwich will open in the Compass location.
