Default DL tightening up Fast Pass Return times

Our local news station reported that DL will no longer be allowing you to Fast Pass return after
the designated return time listed on the the pass. Anyone heard that at the park ? Have they
    started it yet ?

I knew of WDW doing this but didn't think it would go over too well at Disneyland (we simply have soooo many locals who will no doubt be disgruntled about this having gotten used to showing up whenever, myself included!) but alas now you say they are cracking down there too...hmmm, I'll have to check it out and get back to you. I think it is fair to say that at DL and DCA you have a HUGE summer ahead and getting some crowd control is in order, over at WDW you have a new Fantasyland and I am sure people will be flocking due to that, another reason to get it running more effectively. I will say though that if you are not a fan of the crackdown I have heard that they will make exceptions if your meal (at a Disney dining location that is!) ran late because they were so busy...but that is just bad karma if you ask me. I guess it's time to play by the rules lol!

This kind of puts the kabosh on my plans for DCA this summer. My usual morning intinerary is Mania, Screamin, Tower, and WoC Fastpasses find their way in there. But then it would have been Fastpasses for Racers, Mania, Screamin', Tower, WoC Fastpasses, then return to Racers at night to see all the fun Carsland neon.
    Life's a happy song!

/\ When you make your trip I can guarantee your fastpasses for Radiator Springs Racers will have a return time very close to closing even if you arrive right around opening. Last summer I arrived at Disneyland less than thirty minutes after opening to see the wait for Star Tours; 140 minutes. We waited in at least a ten minute line just to get fastpasses this was at 8:40 a.m., forty minutes after opening. The fastpass return times were the last of the day between 10:40 and 11:40 p.m. It doesn't get any more ridiculous than that, lol. Because Cars Land is going to be promoted like crazy and the addition has been anticipated since what, 2009? The lines are going to be EXTREMELY long throughout the entire park. I'm honestly hoping that I am able to get into the Cast Member Preview Party to get a ride on Cars Land before it opens to the public. Even the lines'll be horrendous, Star Tours apparently had humongous Cast Member only lines and apparently Radiator Springs Racers has a pretty small queue. -_- I hope not.
    Pls.

Yes, they have started already including Disneyland as well. *Supposedly*, they're doing this because Disney *resort guests* are going to have priority in ''reserving ride times before they arrive'' (< though, I don't know when that's going to happen). :

So with this *new rule*, does that mean that, let's say my Space Mountain fastpass ticket says to return between *2:30 and 3:30*, I have to be **there** exactly at 2:30? Will they let me enter at 3:00? < Sorry, even though this should be quite straightforward, I'm having a bit of trouble understanding this new rule. So if anyone would mind rephrasing or helping me on this, I would be greatly appreciated! (:

    Thanks!

^Note that both above links start by addressing 'Disney Theme Parks", but later specify ONLY Walt Disney World. Nothing has yet been announced about Disneyland enforcing Fastpass times, so don't worry about it. If and/or when it happens, it will be a big announcement.
Disneyland Resort (CA) Visit and Ride Tracker since August 11, 2009:
    DL Visits: 162
    DCA Visits: 79
    Total Rides: 1578

Even though I rarely use fastpasses I'm really hoping that this only stays at WDW. Keep in mind that a large percentage of DLR's visitors are locals. When there are people who go to Disneyland at least once a week why on earth would they want to reserve fastpass times quite a bit in advance? Just go to the park and wait like everyone else does you don't live too far away. I understand why this would be helpful for faraway visitors but nonetheless.
    Pls.

    Default Rumor mill

I believe that this will happen at Disneyland eventually; but for now, everything hinges on what happens at Walt Disney World. Return times will be enforced there, public reaction will be measured. Then Xpass will be implemented and the whole thing will be scruitinized very closely before it's expanded to Disneyland Resort.

If what I've read is true, I think Xpass could be a big sucess without much impact on other Fastpass users. Each resort guest will have access to 6 Xpasses per day; whereas a walk-in guest who is in the park for 12 hours will have access to 6 Fastpasses. Sounds fair. Really, the only benefit of Xpass would be less walking back-and-forth between attractions.

^ The thing is when considering all the other advanced tickets for any other precisely timed reservations, that could really screw up more seating and attraction capacities than do anything positive. If fastpass lines technically make regular queue waits longer as they are now to begin with, all I see here is impending chaos.
I've lost my mind. Isn't that great?

I disagree. I think sure, many guests will be upset. But, less people will grab a fastpass in the park, because they can't just get it and use it later. With people missing windows, less people will use their fastpasses. Therefore, the fastpass line will be shorter, making stand by go quicker. More people might be in the stand by line because they aren't using FP as much, but it will be more efficient. So actually, I don't see much changing.

Just to clarify, my post had nothing to do with this coming to Disneyland, because there has been no announcement regarding Disneyland.
