Default June 15th -- bad idea or REALLY bad idea?

I know the weekend of June 15th is going to be insane with Cars Land and Buena Vista Street opening -- the end of a 5-year transformation -- never in Disney parks history has something like this happened. With that said, how insane of an idea would it be for me to book a trip for that weekend? I mean, would it really make a difference if I waited a week or two? Thoughts?

If you want to go for the sake of being there opening day, and are willing to wait in multi-hour lines to even see the new land/ride the rides, then go for it. I went to wait at 4AM to get a Fastpass to see the very first public performance of World of Color, and I devoted basically my entire day to it. Judging by the recent openings of rides, it is probably going to be insane at least until late August/September, so waiting a week or two might not help much.

I think it would've been cool if they extended the remodel to June 17 and closed the park on the day of the seventeenth. Why? It would open on the anniversary of Disneyland. That'd be really cool if you ask me. Brother and sister celebrating a monumental anniversary on the same day albeit in WAY different years, lol. If I were you I'd definitely plan on making a trip there. I will be leaving California for Hawaii on June 16 so I won't be here to check out opening day. However...I will more than likely be at the Cast Member preview for Cars Land so...yeah I'm pretty much set. It's going to be very crowded at DCA. This week alone has marked huge crowds and wait times for even DCA. 60 minutes to ride the non-swinging gondolas on Mickey's Fun Wheel. Lol, what?
    Pls.

If my AP wasn't blocked on the 15th, I'd be there for the sake of opening day. I think the entire summer is going to be absolutely nuts. It might be slightly less crazy a few weeks later, but not by much.

    That's July 17.

Personally, I'm hoping to get in on a preview whenever that happens. I just wonder how early I would have to arrive if I do attempt June 15.

Crap. Maybe I should wait a month at least.

Myself, I'm going the week before Memorial day, and not again til after Labor Day. I'm not great w/crowds.

Remember that NOT getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck

We are planning on waiting until September. I would LOVE to experience the opening day, just to say I was there. If you decide to go I think you need to adopt the attitude that things will be CRAZY and you probably won't get to do a whole lot. Go with the flow and take in the atmosphere.
Here you leave today and enter the world of Yesterday, Tomorrow, and Fantasy.

    I was there July 17, 2005.
