    Default America Sings

I am here to talk and discuss about the America Sings attraction at Disneyland from 1974-88. I never went on this attraction before; but i watched various YouTube videos of it and it looked like a really awsome and friendly ride to go on back in the time. The songs and heritage of America made me want to sing out, very easy to follow and sing-along. If i were in the early 80's I would possibly liked the Geese barbershop quartet. Blossom Nosed Murphy would of made me laugh out loud with his.. "sweeeeet aaaaadaliiiiine".

as Sam would of said "yes folks, that was America Sings.. all about America's music".

So yeah anyway did anyone liked this attraction? were there any malfunctions to one of the audio-characters? e.g like the weasel didn't pop up in one of the acts and you heard his "pop goes the weasel, hehehe!" or one of the geese started singing one of their songs and then all of a sudden that goose's stopped working.

I read about one sad news about Deborah-Gail-Stone, who got trapped by the carousel wall. I bet that kinda put us off the attraction and going to Disneyland since that day occured.

So yea i'm just preparing for some ideas and stuff like this if you remember AS= America Sings.

I have been on the "America Sings" attraction a couple of times. I found it to be a nice, relaxing and patriotic way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Disneyland. Enjoyed it immensely. Everything worked properly the times that I was on it and I didn't hear about the unfortunate accident you refer to until years later. I would be in favor of seeing that attraction make a comeback.

I really liked America Sings. It was a must-see every time I visited (unlike it's replacement, which I hit every so often, and usually just to escape the heat).

I loved America Sings....it was just fun to sit in an audience that moved instead of the stage. You never felt like YOU were moving when you watched it either. Loved the music, the history, and the "Pop Goes the Weasel"!! Saw this attraction the very first year it opened and MANY MANY MAAAANY times afterwards.

I remember going on America Sings as a child. It was a really great sing along. Pop goes the weasel was the best part. I miss it and I miss Country Bears too. They were both fun shows. I guess guests are no longer into sing a longs which is so unfortuate. I am glad that the America Sings characters are in Splash Mountain because, it brings back the memories of America Sings. Would be nice if maybe on Grizzly River Run they could incorporate the Country Bears instead of having the dull your on a river rafting trip theming. Or maybe they could just bring back Country Bears all together. Anyway, I just miss both shows they were great.

Thanks for writing about the videos. I should try to see those.

I went on America Sings many times. If you sat in the right place, you might get a glimse of the audience in the other theater section as it turned. It was absolute heaven on a hot day and a lot of fun listening to and singing along. It was also pretty fun to stand in line up on the ramp because you would often hear a rock band playing at Tomorrowland Terrace and could watch the Rocket Ships and People Mover. I also experienced the attraction that was there previously, Carousel of Progress, which was great for the time and has a catchy and optomistic tune. I would like to see America Sings return, possibly in a different area. I think the only reason it fit in Tomorrowland, themewise, is because there were two performance stages nearby.

As for Country Bears, when I finally saw the Billy Hill and Hillbillies show at the Golden Horseshoe, after hearing people rave about it, I felt as if it was almost a live version of the Country Bears. So I don't miss the attraction that much. It is really a shame that kids don't have it anymore, though. Winnie the Pooh's Adventure should have been in Fantasyland and Country Bears should have remained in Critter Country. It was also nice that Country Bears had seasonal shows.

I remember riding it as a child. I don't think I realized we were moving while sitting...I really enjoyed it and all the songs. I enjoy listening to the ride now. I guess I should look at the videos so I can remember more. The Country Bears were amazing as well. I thought the bears were real! And Teddy Beara (I think that was her name) was my favorite, swinging above the audience. So cool!
