Disney's Annual Shareholders Meeting For 2012

Disney Puts On An Entertaining Annual Meeting In KC

    Kansas City Star

Loud, energizing music, slick video montages and choreographed crowd control: It was pure Disney.

For its annual meeting, Walt Disney Co. on Tuesday packed a Kansas City hotel ballroom with about 500 shareholders, many of them Disney fans who had flown in from around the country.

After yielding cellphones and cameras, and passing through security akin to airport checkpoints, stockholders were treated to a quick financial summary of a very good 2011 — record revenues of $40.9 billion and a 21 percent increase in net income to a record $4.8 billion.

The shareholder meeting, minus media presentations, can be listened to here.

Disney board opponents made little headway with shareholders

    Deadline New York
Corporate governance geeks will be interested in this footnote to the shareholder vote for the Disney board at Tuesday’s annual meeting: The results, just released, suggest that advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services had more sway with the company’s stock holders than its rival Glass, Lewis & Co did. Both groups objected to corporate governance decisions, but urged investors to express their anger by opposing different directors.

In the shareholder meeting, there are clips of films, previews, and other items meant for exclusivity for the meeting. With so many cell phones carrying video technology, such practices are pretty commonplace.
