It was recently announced Jason Segel won't return. No problems between him and Disney. He wants the Muppets to be themselves. So here's to some more Muppet Domination!
Another new Muppets movie
New Muppets movie going ahead
But without Jason Segel as a writer
New York Magazine
A deal has been reached with The Muppets director James Bobin and original co-writer Nicholas Stoller to pen a sequel, but insiders also tell us that Stoller's original collaborator, Jason Segel, won't be returning to the keyboard. Segel, a star of How I Met Your Mother — now in its eighth season — has a burgeoning film career, and Disney insiders tell Vulture that between his commitment to the CBS sitcom, his other feature-writing efforts, and promotional work for Five Year Engagement (due out this coming April) and Judd Apatow's This Is Forty (in December), there won't be time to collaborate on a Muppets sequel.
A Segel spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment, but we're told by our Disney insiders that there's still a chance that the actor may star in a Muppets sequel, depending on how the Stoller-Bobin script turns out.

'The Muppets' producers renew Disney contract
'The Muppets' producer Mandeville re-ups with Disney
The company, run by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, signs a three-year deal
Hollywood Reporter
Disney has re-upped its first-look deal with Mandeville Films, the shingle run by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. The new contract is for three years. By the time that term ends, Mandeville will have been with the studio for 20 years; Hoberman, who began his career at Disney as an exec in 1985, will have had an association with the studio for 30.
For Disney, Mandeville produced last year’s hit film The Muppets, which starred Jason Segel and Amy Adams and won a best song Oscar. Other recent hits for the studio include The Proposal, the Sandra Bullock-Ryan Reynolds romantic comedy that grossed $317 worldwide, as well as Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
At Disney, Mandeville is in active development on a Muppets sequel and the feature version of the popular Disney Channel cartoon Phineas and Ferb.
