    Hollywood Reporter
The Walt Disney Company Nordic has picked up rights across Scandinavia for The Centenarian Who Climbed Out The Window and Vanished, an adaptation of the comic novel from Swedish writer Jonas Jonasson, which has become a best-seller across Europe. The Centenarian is about a 100-year-old man who absconds for a month-long road trip around Sweden — a journey that takes him back through the history of the 20th century.

Walt Disney will bow the film in the Nordic territories and has an option for the international rights for the finished film. The book, already a criticial and commercial hit across Scandinavia, as well as Germany, Italy, France and Spain, is set to be published in the U.K. and the U.S. through Disney's Hyperion imprint.

Swedish '100 Year Old Man' gets $1.6 Million in financing
Disney will release the comedy, based on the best-selling novel by Jonas Jonasson, across Scandinavia

    Hollywood Reporter
The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared, a comedy based on the best-selling novel by Swedish writer Jonas Jonasson, has received a $1.6 million production boost from the Swedish Film Institute. The Institute will back director Felix Herngren's adaptation of Jonasson's book, in which a centenarian escapes a nursing home and goes on a wild road trip across Sweden, with SEK 11 Million ($1.6 million), a major sum for the state-funded body. 47-year-old actor Robert Gustafsson, one of Sweden's most popular comedians and a famed impersonator, will play the 100-year-old absconder, Allan Karlsson.

The Walt Disney Company Nordic has picked up rights across Scandinavia for the film and has an option for international rights. NICE FLX is producing the feature, currently shooting in Sweden, targeting a Christmas 2013 release.
