Modern Family to take a Disneyland vacation

    Will Modern Family meet Mickey?

    TV Guide
Following their trips to Hawaii and a dude ranch, Modern Family's next family outing will take the whole Pritchett/Dunphy/Delgado/Tucker gang to the happiest place on Earth. Disneyland, part of the ABC/Disney family, is being eyed as a shooting location for an episode to air during May sweeps. My spies also tell me the Dunphys may run in to a familiar face at the park... someone not seen in several months. Hint: Think dim-witted and musically inclined.

Default Modern Family's 3 day DLR shoot

Modern Family’ begins 3 day Disneyland shoot

Modern Family’ films episode at Disneyland

    Orange County Register
The cast members of Modern Family began a three-day shoot at Disneyland on Wednesday, the same day that crowds came for a 24-hour Leap Day party. ichele Himmelberg, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman, confirmed that camera crews would be at Disneyland for three days to film the show on ABC-TV, a Walt Disney Co. property.

The boy character Manny sported Mickey Mouse ears and character Cameron donned a Disney pin-studded lanyard. Other main cast members milled about during a 3 p.m. filming session inside the entrance turnstiles to Disneyland.

Employees directed visitors in and out of the park, forbidding anyone from stopping too long to gawk or take flash pictures. A roped-off area kept the camera crews and actors separated from the visitors... continue

This was cool, but a huge pain to deal with when combined with the crowds on Leap Day. I was going through the turnstiles when the main entrance shot was being worked on, they were down to 3 turnstiles and it took nearly 30 minutes to get in the gate.

I thought it was neat too but poor planning on everyone's part to be filming on leap year! I thought how silly to pick that day, when crowds would be crazy.

They took over rides multiple times. And blocked, literally blocked, pathways. As in, you couldn't pass. Which I would only minimally mind on a normal day, but it was a promotional and at times crowded day. And they drew crowds, so if they weren't blocking the path, the crowds were. They really should have chosen a different day. Also, just cuz you're a celebrity doesn't mean you can not watch where you're going.

Modern Family sets air date for Disneyland episode

    Orange County Register
The Modern Family episode that is set at Disneyland will air next month, ABC has announced. Yani Chang, a publicist for the ABC show, said the Disneyland episode is scheduled for May 9.

The full cast filmed the episode at Disneyland over three days in March, including during the busy Leap Day when the park was open for 24 hours. During filming, the cast could be seen throughout the park, including by the entrance in front of the train station and along the Rivers of America in Frontierland.
