Eli Manning: "I'm going to Disney World!"

Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning to visit Walt Disney World today

    The Florida Ledger
Just as the now legendary commercial says, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is “going to Disney World” today. He spoke the famous words shortly after the Giants’ comeback win over the New England Patriots on Sunday night.

Manning will be a part of a motorcade down Main Street U.S.A. at 1:30 p.m. That is, if he shows up. When Manning won the Super Bowl MVP trophy four years ago, he was a no-show at Disneyland the next day. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again.

Super Bowl MVP parade at Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World Resort parade celebrates Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning

    Disney Parks Blog
After telling the world Sunday night after the Super Bowl that he was coming to Walt Disney World Resort, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning did just that today. Manning flew here straight from Indianapolis and arrived at the Magic Kingdom Park where he celebrated the Giants’ super victory with a grand parade down Main Street, U.S.A. Afterward he played around with Mickey and Minnie and some NFL Youth players. If you didn’t catch a glimpse of him, here are some photos from his visit this afternoon. photos

No offense, but why is it always Disney World? I remember a few times when they went to Disneyland, such as when Joe Montana won the Super Bowl one time for the San Francisco 49ers.
"Walt Disney's . Each week, as you enter this timeless land, one of these many worlds will open to you: Frontierland, tall tales and true from the legendary past; Tomorrowland, promise of things to come; Adventureland, the wonder world of nature's own realm; Fantasyland, the happiest kingdom of them all."

I like it with Disneyland myself. I think "I'm going to Disneyland!" seems to have much more of an impact. I don't know the exact history or origin of the the slogan. But I do believe Phil Simms was the first Super Bowl Champ to utter the line for Disney. That was a Giants win too!

You are absolutely right. Phil Simms was the first Super Bowl MVP to use that phrase for Disney. When Disney filmed Simms, they actually filmed him saying both "I'm going to Disneyland!" and, "I'm going to Disney World!" That way Disney could run "I'm going to Disneyland!" on the west coast, and "I'm going to Disney World!" on the east coast. So for that same reason, that is why Joe Montana in CA would say, "I'm going to Disneyland!" and Eli Manning in NY would say, "I'm going to Disney World!"

Another fun fact is that Eisner got the idea to use that phrase as a marketing slogan from Richard Rutan, who, for those of you who weren't around in '87, was one of the first pilots to circumnavigate the globe without refeuling.
You can't run away from trouble. There ain't no place that far.

I think they did the same thing with Eli, because I've seen the one of him saying "I'm going to Disneyland!" here in the Sacramento area.

Four years ago Eli Manning said "Disneyland", and his parade was at Disneyland.

Okay, I'm just going to say it: I don't care that Eli Manning went to Walt Disney World. Judging by the way he treated it last time, he clearly doesn't value it as an honor bestowed upon him.

After the game four years ago, Manning went to New York for his appearance on Letterman. Then due to airport delays in Phoenix, he didn't make it. I accept that. But he could have been there the following day, or the following weekend...

But no; he had a family vacation to the Bahamas scheduled. Did he shave a day or two off of that vacation? No.

He was only in the Bahamas for two weeks. Did he go to Disneyland when he came back? No.

It took him four months to go to Disneyland. FOUR MONTHS! When you or I put off doing something for four months, it must not be very important to us. It's just an annoyance, like cleaning out the garage. To Manning, having a prade in your honor is just a celebrity endorcement check. [/rant]
