Default Rare "A Musical Souvenir of 'America on Parade"' Record (contains pictures)

Well, I have found yet another old Disneyland/Walt Disney World record, but I think this one may be a rare find. The record ia A Musical Souvenir of "America on Parade" from 1975. It is a 12" double sided record that has a picture underneath the grooves of music of a really cool painting of the parade. The condition of the record is fantastic with no scratches whatsoever. Its been so well kept, that it still has the original price tag on the sleeve. The price was $4.98 Plus tax.

    Default Bicentennial Lust

What an incredible find! I've seen the 7" picture disk, but I didn't know about the 12"!
    I feel... lust.

AMERICA ON PARADE! was the longest, tallest, most elaborate parade ever! There were one hundred and fifty performers in costumes eight feet tall! There were seventy-seven mobile parade elements, including fifty full-sized floats; a few of them eighteen feet high! The music was recorded on Sadie Mae, an 1890 band organ. It was AMAZING!

They don't make parades like that anymore... :::sigh:::

I didn't know about the 7" disc until now also. From the way you describe it, it seems like an awesome parade. I wish I could see it (Just like all the other cool extinct attractions that I missed because of my youth XD). And no, They don't make the parades likw they used to. I just saw Mickey's Soundsational for the first time today, and it's cute, but it doesn't have the charm some of the older parades that I saw had like the Hercules, and Lion King Parade.

Maybe I'm a little mixed up... There were several of these around at the same time. Main Street Electrical Parade was a 7"; It's a Small World was a 7"... I may be mistaken about this one.

Well, you know more than I do, seeing as I didn't hear about this parade until I got the record haha.

    Default Spirit of '76

I had a very memorable visit to Disneyland in the summer of 1975. Disneyland was gearing up for the Bicentennial. Main Street, Frontierland, and parts of Fantasyland were all decked out in red-white-and-blue bunting with "Spirit of '76" shields hung on it. AMERICA ON PARADE! was the parade, and on top of that, the Disneyland Band paraded a couple of times a day, playing patriotic Sousa marches. — AND AMERICA SINGS! had just opened in the Carrousel Theater building. Who else but Disney would actually build an attraction just for a calendar event like Independence Day?
