2011 D23 Expo Wrap Up Report PART DEUX

    Hello VF!!

It's been about two months since the D23 Expo. Two months truly fly by and with so much stuff going on in my life and DE's "life", I'll admit that it was pretty tough to push out 3 days worth of content FAST. We're relatively small when it comes to writers and staffers, so I always make it a point to write and edit these Wrap Up reports myself. I remember when we left the Anaheim Convention Center for the last time during the Expo, the first thing I thought of when I got into my car was "Oh, no...I have to write about ALL this!!"

Honestly! It really is a daunting task to put together a large report that consists of in-depth detail and news over the course of 3 days AND do it in a way to make it fun and entertaining for all of you, our readers. So first of all, I'd like to apologize to all our fans out there and here on VF for the lag in stories over the past couple months. We appreciate all your guys' patience and support as we were continually straining toward the goal of finishing our D23 Expo Wrap Up. We know it took long, but we hope that this "Part DEUX" made your waiting worth your while!

We stuffed quite a few things in here, including more EXCLUSIVE news about Buena Vista Street, the making of STours: The Adventures Continue, and of course the NEW films that are coming out from Walt Disney Studios!

There's quite a lot of reading to be had, so get on it! But don't forget to enjoy it too!

We also updated our Snippet section, giving you what's going on as of last week - we'll talk about Christmas @ Disneyland, the AP Soundsational Parade Event, and much, much more!

Anything enticing so far? I thought not. So before you head to either one of our new articles, here's an excerpt from our D23 Expo Wrap-Up --

(picking up from some Imagineers talking about Buena Vista Street, the new entrance to DCA) -

If you remember Sunshine Plaza, you remember that if you stood in the plaza itself next to the sun “hubcap”, you’d always see Disneyland and its features (the summit of the Matterhorn, Main Street Train Station, etc.). To Imagineers, this brought you out of the STORY. They wanted to make sure that every element of design focus around that, so in doing so, they put the Hub to the left of the actual Street as you come down. That way (as you can see in the above REAL photo taken directly from the construction site), you can see that you no longer see any visible indication that Disneyland is there…well besides the Matterhorn, but they assured us once the new facades go up, it will be gone and you’re left in pure STORY of the new DCA. Incredible detail.

The photo also shows the new Buena Vista Street Fountain, a fountain designed after a real fountain found at the headquarters of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
