    Default Wreck-It Ralph

    Wreck-It Ralph

    The Final Name

    The Animation Guild Blog
The final name ... we think. From the Disney Press Release...

Wreck-It Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan—win a medal—but soon wrecks everything, and accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade?
For those keeping score at home: This feature began life as Joe Jump, back in the David Stainton days, then went into hibernation, then got revived (and revised) as Reboot Ralph and is now Wreck-It Ralph.

I'm informed that as of last week, there were three layout artists on the picture, and that the goal is to get an inventory of layouts before hiring a crew of animators.

If the whole movie is like the opening four minutes shown at D23 last August, this could possibly be one of my all-time favorite films.

    So yeah, I'm pretty hyped.

    Default Game character cameos

    Video game character cameos

Disney Animation’s ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ will feature ‘Roger Rabbit’ style cameos from classic Nintendo, Atari and Sega video game characters

    /film
Wreck-It Ralph’ screened at CinemaCon has confirmed appearances from classic video game characters from Nintendo, Midway Games, Sega and more. This connected world allows the movie to feature interactions between some of your favorite classic video game characters, Roger Rabbit-style.

At CinemaCon, Disney showed an almost completed version of the opening which confirms some of the film’s cameo appearances. I’m sure there will be many more, but I was surprised to see major characters from Nintendo, Midway Games, Sega and more in a Disney animated feature film.

This looks great, and I especially dig all the character cameos. It must have taken some work for Disney to be able to use characters from Nintendo, Sega, Capcom and more.

This movie will be like the Roger Rabbit of this decade. Maybe not as legendary as Roger Rabbit, but I mean, all the character cameos is pretty amazing.

That game is pretty doggone addicting too.

^ So many people have called it the "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" of videogames, and I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier. Also, if there were that many cameos in the trailer, could there possibly be more in the movie itself?

    Default 182 video game characters

Wreck-It Ralph sports 182 video game characters

How ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ infiltrated the game industry

    Los Angeles times
Assembling the collection of classic video game characters that inhabit Walt Disney Animation Studio’s upcoming Wreck-It Ralph was a lot like casting a movie full of A-list actors — first you have to snare the star. “Pac-Man was the first one we got that was big, and then we were able to say to Nintendo, ‘Pac-Man’s in it, so you’ve gotta be in it,’” said Wreck-It Ralph director Rich Moore, in an interview at Comic-Con after he presented 10 minutes of footage with voice cast members John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman during the Disney panel.

The video game cast includes a massive list of 182 characters. “Early on, I decided, if we’re going to do this, it’s only going to be worth it if we have the real characters,” Moore said. “If we’re just doing ersatz types, it’s not going to feel as if there’s much authenticity, so let’s proceed as if we have them.”

Accordingly, Moore and his producer Clark Spencer launched a charm offensive on the video game industry. “We started building relationships with people at NAMCO, Capcom, SEGA, meeting with them, pitching the movie to them,” Moore said. “Once it broke down to the human level of creating relationships — and I’m sure the lawyers at Disney will say, ‘Oh my God there was a zillion I’s to dot and T’s to cross’ — but the actual moment was very personal, and I think it was the right way to go, rather than sending out legal people. They got that, OK, they’re being respectful and having some fun with it, and it’s just a great way to get their properties out there.”

Moore’s team didn’t get everything they wanted, however — Nintendo’s Mario from Super Mario Bros. is still holding out. But they did get a different kind of embrace from the video game industry. SEGA is adding Wreck-It Ralph to the cast of one of its Sonic the Hedgehog games — the upcoming racing game Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, which comes out in November.

Really looking forward to this movie. Few things though: I will be disappointed if there's no Space Paranoids reference or a Kingdom Hearts cameo...

I love how they have Jack McBrayer as Fix-It-Felix. The movie looks like a lot of fun. Especially for us "old School" gamers. Ahhhh...... The early 80's. Still got my consoles and games!
