I for one, cant wait to see this...however this could go one of two ways....it could be an awesome amazing epic movie or it could suck like the haunted mansion.....just saying. Still the possiblity of it sucking is very little because of mr. TIM BURTON!!!!!!!!! :DDDD

    Unhappy Front loaded news

I usually don't front-load news with my own opinion. I prefer to wait until a few other people of have commented first. But in this case noooooooooo!!!

Will Angelina Jolie wake Sleeping Beauty?

Since the idea started with Tim Burton, I believe that we'll read soon about him signing on, but I really hope some schedule conflict or something prevents Angie from doing this.

I agree, Anj would not be the best for the role! I echo Ezra's NOOOOOOOO! :)

Angelina Jolie? Really? Honestly, I'm not sure what to think. I've never had a problem with her, and she's great in the films I've seen her in, but I just can not visualize it! Maleficent must be beautiful, but not sexy... How would Jolie handle such a character? I'm sure make-up would do wonders and make Angelina look like Maleficent... But what about the rest? Am I alone in thinking that Maleficent's voice is one of the defining parts of the character? (Eleanor Audley, c'mon, she nailed it.) Eh, I just don't know. I don't want to immediately oppose because I simply don't know how this would turn out! I'll reserve judgement until a final announcement is made. They don't even have a director yet, so I'm not to worried about the cast at the moment!

I wonder how the costumes will look... Do you think they'll stick with the animated feature's costumes? Or do you think they'll throw those to the wind and come up with an original design? I would love it if they realize the animated film's costumes, but make them less costume-y and more realistic. Make sense? Like what Wicked did with the Wizard of Oz (in regards to costumes, of course!)

I don't believe Angy is playing Maleficent. I think it mention her playing Aurora, or did I read it wrong?

I thought the same thing, but the article reads---
But sources say that, as of the last few weeks, Jolie is keen on the film and would like to sign on to play the titular villain.

I'm in the minority here. I can't stand Tim Burton's brand of storytelling. The images I have seen of Alice look like something a dope fiend would have dreamed up. What's the deal with the freaky white face and the ugly backgrounds on the set? Don't tell me, I don't want to know. It's a rhetoric question based on disgust.

I realize Alice in Wonderland is a strange tale to begin with, but I've seen other versions than the Disney animated version. There was a TV version when I was young that I liked quite a bit, although it was strange. Nothing looks as strange and yucky as this current Disney/Burton film looks. How dare they call this a Disney production?

My immediate reaction to this news is that nothing is sacred with Disney anymore. "Here you go, take all of our old animated gems and turn them into dark, twisted, and ugly live action movies. As long as there is a market and we make money."

Sorry, not my style. I am a Walt Disney fan, not a Tim Burton fan. Even if I were a Tim Burton fan I would definitely feel that teaming up with Disney to create stories from their old classics was not the way to go. As creative as Walt and his guys were, I don't think he would approve of the shift in storytelling under his name.

Sorry, flame me, but I know there must be others who feel the way I do.

I agree, mostly half-and-half. I'm a fan of Burton, I'm a fan of Walt Disney. The two mixing? Eh, not making a strong bond in my opinion. I mean, yes, Tim does some very good movies. Hell! He's even helped make some of the older, nice and kid friendly movies for Disney! I would wish that the Disney company wouldn't try and sell all their new media under the "Walt Disney" name.

But, really, were talking about the people who made High School musical, and Hannah Montana. They turned "Toon Disney" into "Dinsey XD." I don't like how they've changed everything up, and still keep the Disney name! I understand the need for popular appeal, but sometimes there is a difference between gaining viewers, and loosing old viewers.

Take one of my favorite bands for instance. Nightwish with Tarja was a hit with me! Her voice was amazing, the band had such a connection. Since she left, I've been more and more turned away from them by the new singer, Anette. I looked at polls, and they seemed to of lost about 300,000 listeners and only gained a 100,000 - 150,000. If I was the manager, I would have kept the same singer, but disputes in the band made that idea non-available.

I think I went a little too far.... Oh well, thats what you get when you compare Disney movies to Finnish Gothic-orchestral rack bands... O_o?!

This is exactly what Tim Burton is. I can understand how you feel. But, I have to say just to set it straight - The next time you see a movie on previews or trailers and it's directed, created, or produced by Tim Burton - do not go see it. This is his style and that's just how it is. Not much you can do about it.

And, sorry for sounding blunt as I am not attacking you. But in general, no one can guess what Walt Disney would have wanted. He died 43 years ago. Too many people make that assumption that Walt Disney would have wanted it this way, or this way. That style of movie making wasnt even around back then. The generations that are here now, were not here back then. Things have drastically changed since that era. This is a different era of movie making, whether theyre borrowing from old times, or creating new things.

i'm really looking forward this idea, its going to be so interseting to see what Tim Burton can pull off and Linda Woolverton as screenplay writer... that will be great no doubt for someone who write the screenplay of my all time favorite movie "Beauty and the Beast".
She also did a great job with the new Alice in Wonderland.

The only thing that everyone can agree on Walt's perspective for film making is this: New, inventive, and creative! Walt was all about making something new for the viewers. It had to be inventive and creative, he was always trying to find the newest and creative film making ways.
