Default Are the recreations worth it?

When I went in March, I wanted to check out the water parks or the Quest in Downtown Disney, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to sacrifice park time to do them. Are they worth it? How much time should I dedicate to these "extra" parks? I want to see it all, eventually. I just need help prioritizing.

Thanks.

They're interesting to see and a nice break from the madness of the theme parks. If you're staying on property for 5-7 or more days, you're going to need these other places if for no other reason then to break up an entire week of theme park days. Even I had a hard time with 5 straight days at the Tokyo parks.

I think they're totally worth it. It just adds to the experince since Disney Quest can allow you to play around in like the awesomest arcade ever made, and the Waterparks can either provide you with Thrills or relaxation. They are just not to miss.

However, Disney Quest will close soon.

So will Pleasure Island if it hasent alreadey. I always questioned the morality of calling it Pleasure Island. If you have seen Pinnochio you know what i am talking about.

In Disney Quest's case, I believe it is because it will become a Gameworks.

I'm with Matt on this one - they work well as a diversion from the parks, to give you a bit of a breather. I went to DisneyQuest a couple of times when I lived in Florida. It was fun, but I didn't think their big, special rides were really anything that separated it from some of the megaarcades like GameWorks. I think the main difference is that in places like GameWorks you paid per-game, and at DisneyQuest they just had a one-time entrance fee and games were free once you got inside.

I think Typhoon Lagoon is definitely worth taking time out for. It immerses you in the theme extremely well, the wave pool is a lot of fun, and the new Crush 'n' Gusher. I highly recommend Blizzard Beach as well, I just don't think it is quite as immersive.

As for DisneyQuest, it is very unique and fun, I'm not quite sure it is worth the admission price, however. I think everyone should see at least once. It sounds like it'll be closing at some point for sure, and will supposedly become an ESPN Zone around January 2008. I'd personally rather have one of those, anyways.

It is kind of an upscale combination arcade/restaurant concept. This is from their website:

"GameWorks strives to meet a variety of moods and needs by offering finger foods at the snack bar, scrumptious meals at the sizzling grill, drinks with flair at the full-service bar, and a massive, high-intensity gaming floor categorized into separate zones, including ?The Loading Dock? and the ?The Arena,? which allows guests to zoom right to their favorite games and attractions."

If I read that page right, it says that SEGA owns them.

Ah, no, MMC's right, it's ESPN Zone that's coming there, not a Gameworks.
