Default Toy Story Midway Mania: Disney's Hollywood Studios VS. Disney's California Adventure

Which incarnation of Midway Mania do you prefer? It seems awfully hard because I love both equally & they each have their own pros & cons. For the Hollywood Studios version it's got an awesome interior themed around the Pixar Studios but the whole Midway thing doesn't really click with the studio theme. The California Adventure one is interesting because it was basically the one thing that'd actually make me wanna go to Paradise Pier plus I like how Mr. Potato Head is positioned when compared to the studios. It kinda reminds me of the ill-fated barker bird who used to beckon people to The Enchanted Tiki Room. So when it comes down to which one I think is better, I think I'll go with Disney's Hollywood Studios because it's got a more eye-catching theme & it's got the Luxo lamp nearby (& that definitley won't be headed to Disney's California Adventure anytime soon.) But that's just me, so which park do you guys think has a better Midway Mania, Disney's California Adventure or Disney's Hollywood Studios?

They have the same ride. The only difference is the queue.

DHS already had an existing building, which made building an indoor queue really easy in terms of costs. An indoor queue by its very nature can be more immersive than an outdoor queue because they can build corridors, walls, and even put props up on the ceiling. Clearly indoor queues have an advantage in ability to be immersive.

DCA had to build everything for Midway from the ground up, and if that wasn't hard enough, it had to get built under & through Screamin's footers. After spending the money to build all that, any money for an indoor queue was bound to be seen as unnecessary, so there wasn't any additional attempt to bring the queue indoors. The only indoor part of DCA's Midway's queue is the pre-existing Maliburritos kitchen. DCA's queue fails compared to DHS' simply for lacking the advantages that indoor queues have by nature.

What I will say is that I believe DHS made a mistake putting the Mr. Potato Head barker inside where only people in the Stand-By queue can see him. If he was outside in Pixar Place near Midway's entrance there, it would have done a lot for the outside ambiance & theming for the Pixar Place area. Yes it adds to the queue, but why hark an attraction that people have already been waiting over an hour for by the time they get to the Potato Head AA? The Luxo lamp proves that outside was the better place for Potato Head.

I think DCA's Midway Mania has a much nicer facade, and DHS's Midway Mania has a more interesting queue.

I think that's what it will ultimately come down to for the two versions: the overall look of the building vs. the queue.

is the DCA version longer? I heard that from somewhere (forgot where), but I doubt it.

I like the fact DCA has Potato Head OUTSIDE where everyone can see him. I agree with Matt on how they could and should haveput Potato Head outside. The fact DCA has it in an actual midway is pretty cool, but almost odd since they're toys and the games aren't really supposed to be real midway games, but make-shift games made with things not intended for the purpose of the game.

The queue for DHS seems cooler, but at DHS, they should drop "MIDWAY" from the name because it's not in a midway compared to the DCA version and it gives a nice reason for the ride to have two names.
