I honestly don't mind it. I think it's rather cute, and I don't have a problem with it. I know most people don't like that it covers up the Chinese Theater, but it's become the new park icon that everyone associates the park with now. It's sort of iconic. If they were to take it away it wouldn't be right.

Why take it away in the first place? Its kinda like there icon, like Sleeping Beauty Castle, Epcot, or the big AK tree. Who cares if it blocks the view to the Chinese theater. All the castles block the view of whats behind them, and nobody complains.

It completeley blocks the chinese theatere facade which is intended to be what draws you to the Great Movie ride. It's cheap, It's tacky' it's out of scale with the rest of the area and it's only a giant pin shop. Get ridi of it ASAP. The park icon is the Earful Tower by the way.

^True, however, do you see that right away when you come into the park? I don't think you see it at all until you get close to the back lot and that's all the way in the back.

But there's usually not a huge replica of the chinese theater behind a castle either. Disney should take the Sorcerer's Hat down and move it somewhere else in the park.

They should also move the water tower up behind the facades on Hollywood Blvd. This way, everyone's happy.

Its just a replica, and the reason people are complaining is because its blocking a ride. So what if it blocks the Chinese theater. I think its in a great spot right where it is.

It's blocking the view to the Chinese Theater, it's ruining the view. I don't want gone though, I think they should just move it to a more visibly pleasing area, like outside of the park just before the entrance of the Studios.

I enjoy the hat it's kind-of like the icon of Hollywood Studios....MK has Cinderella's Castle, Epcot has Spaceship Earth and AK has Tree of Life....HS has the hat

To everyone above, that sorcerer hat is far from cheap. Yes, it's the only time Disney has changed the park icon, but it was a change for the better. Disney Studios can't have the same icon as Hollywood. It needs something unique and special to Disney. It COMPLETELY goes with the theme of the park. This is Disney World. No one has a European castle at the end of their American Main Street, and Hollywood doesn't have a giant sorcerer hat at the end of Hollywood Blvd.

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that they had to install the hat specifically to block the view down the street of the Chinese Theatre
Some legal issues having to do with using the likeness of the theatre.

Here is a picture before the hat. The flowerbed in the foreground is now replaced with the hat.

Thats a myth. The real reason is they built it for the 100 years of Magic Celebration and never took it down.
