Angry Makes me so....ANGRY! (park changes)

I mean If I could sware up a storm...I'd pop out as many curse words as I could right now...sorry to be going on crazy rant...but here it goes. the name change of the park apparently signifies "the new name reflects how the park has grown from representing the golden age of movies to a celebration of the new entertainment that today's Hollywood has to offer—in music, television, movies and theater". does that mean they shall be focusing mostly on the trash mags of today. the sad sad sad culture of films where films don't actually matter? the golden age of movies were the golden age of movies. the best time for movies.now a days it's hard to find an actual decent or even original movie. thats the reason I love MGM (oh sorry...hollywood.). I fear for this park's future. .. the complete destruction of the backlot tour is proof. what will fans of film as an "artform" (quotations used to not sound too snooty) do when this park catches up with the times...when the great movie ride has scenes from scary movie 4....what will we do!. I may be irrational. but again..I fear for this park's future. what makes this park, no matter how scarce the rides, such a wonderful park that I hold dear that I have been going to forever...

I don't think you need to worry about stupidity like Scary Movie 4 coming to any theme park any time soon. The intent is to be relevant in today's market trying to appeal to the most over-entertained generation in human history.

Since only the tastes of a couple demographics matter anymore, the appreciation of history side of things is being disregarded in favor of said desire for relevancy. I don't really like it. I think it opens the door to extreme levels of dumbing down and overprocessing of both product and park guest. That's where WDW is heading & they'll charge more than ever for it. It's a sad reality, but that's what it is.

basically...a tragic loss of creativity and a sense of " this isn't just another theme park" for profit.

Agreed. I'm getting tired of the Studios; at least they aren't still parading the Temporary Floats whoops I mean Stars and Motor Cars parade up the street. I mean why didn't they KEEP that Giselle or Cars unit?

EDIT: The Giselle unit is actually one of the ones that were previously used in the Very Merry Christmas Parade until it was converted and the Princesses stayed in that stupid Castle float.

Well it's no secret that they're trying to boost attendance numbers there since Animal Kingdom can't facilitate events like those. With attendance numbers, they can flaunt themselves to anyone who'll listen and say how great they are, how creative the managers are, etc.

I'm a little sad that they choose to go this route for it, instead of, well, trying harder. Events are nice and all, but they'll just keep the Studios as the 3rd banana park behind Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

The Real reason behind the change from MGM to Disney's Hollywood Studios is because Disney's contract with MGM ended. Meg Crofton's comments are Public Relations-speak. The funny thing about her comments is that almost since day 1 The studios has had modern movies in it.
I am not that worried that DHS losing its mission like Epcot is in the process of doing. It's just a name change.
Here is aninteresting article about the MGM contract.

I just can't wait for them to take that Hat down

I think the Golden Age of movies is what makes that park so great. Escaping to a 1930's/1940's world of motion pictures and the glitz and glam of Hollywood is totally awesome.

Today's Hollywood is horrible. I fear that it will become American Idol Studios.

They actually moved that carriage over to MK and used it in the Enchanted pre-parade before DDCT around the time of the DVD release. It is still being used elsewhere, as well. Most recently, it was the float that carried Snow White and Prince Charming in the Enchanted Adventures Parade.

Oh, they have a few of those lying around - 3 or 4 of them used to be used in the Very Merry Christmas Parade on rare ocassions, but this Christmas they probably didn't use them because of Giselle taking one to DHS. Or maybe Disney's getting lazy - this year the Christmas Parade was down to two bands instead of five or six (depending on where princesses were) and two additional buglers. Also the S.S. Disney float is gone without a trace.

ok in ur initial post u complained that they destroyed the Backlot Tour but I just went on that on the 19th and it was great just like it has been 4 10 or 15 years....so uh i think that u need 2 maybe attend the tour or sumthin...plus, how many "new" movie things have they really included at the Studios now? Ok Indiana Jones is new-ish but that's been there almost since the parks opening..Lights, Motors Action came from Paris for the Year of a Million Dreams...and now they have the HSM PepRally..woo hoo...the park overall is relatively the same it just has had a few additions over the years its overal atmosphere now is that of MOVIES not just older ones...yes i agree that the 30s/40s are great to escape to but Disney is also realizing the truth that most people dont and while yes they can stick to the things that have worked b4 they also need to work sum on what can work now to keep people interested.....and another thing is that the American Idol was announced way back at the beginning of February and production began almost immediatly and is going on right now, so how come so many people are freaking out now (um...4 1/2 months later)....?
