Excelent Name! well it seems better than Disney Studios, because there's already one on Paris, but Disney Hollywood Studios it's a good name!

And this means that we have to say goodbye to MGM! but the sad thing is that they will get rid of the great movie ride because it has MGM things

They will not get rid of the Great Movie Ride because of this. The agreement with MGM had nothing to do with the Great Movie Ride. All of the MGM movies used in the ride like The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Tarzan are owned by Ted Turner and distributed through Turner owned Warner Brothers. The sale happened in the early 80's long before the park opened. MGM only retains the rights to some United Artists films used the in the ride's film finale. Those were not part of the original agreement either.

If Disney wants to get rid of the ride, it will be of their choosing. No one can force them to close it. I doubt that will happen though. It is the centerpiece of the park and is the most Hollywood centric attraction in the park.

The park will always be MGM to me, but I do like the new name. Thank goodness they didn't go with that dreadful Disney-Pixar Studios name!

This is good news, and plus, it gives us confirmation to some of the rumors floating around, including the Block Party Bash coming to MGM... or should I say, DHS?

I truly hope that a classic attraction like The Great Movie Ride will not have to be removed because of this contract termination. It would really piss me off to see that go. Becuz we all know that it would be replaced with something Pirates or Pixar related crap. I'm already annoyed that they bulldozed residential street from the backlot tour. No more Golden Girls house..

I never really liked MGM... I'm glad that the park will be officially renamed by the time I make my first visit ever :) :) Wouldn't want to go just before... it would be awkward. Plus I LOVE HPB, so Disney's Hollywood Studios is just perfect. :)

I also call it MGM. I don't think I'll stop, regardless of the name change. All the CM's will know what I'm talking about if I as a question about MGM, so there's no real reason for me to call it anything else. And if they change GMR, I'll be furious.

well the thing is with the MGM you are kinda saying its all about the movies of one studio- MGM, with the Hollywood name now its kinda saying its all about ALL of Hollywood.

I don't think the MGM name prevented them from doing things about all of Hollywood. The MGM name was added with Disney to add a feeling of Old Hollywood when MGM reigned supreme. It really didn't affect what attractions went in the park.

I'll always call it MGM.

I personally like MGM as the better name , I mean Hollywood would make more sense if the theme park was located in Hollywood .

I don't think it's bad or good, it will just be weird to call it Hollywood Studios instead of MGM Studios, which we're all used to.
