Default WDW Marathon and Half-Marathon!!!!

So I am starting to train for my first half marathon,

THE WALT DISNEY WORLD HALF-MARATHON!!!

It is January 9th, 2010. Is anyone going or thinking about going to either the half or full marathon?

Personally, I cant wait!!!

You know, I've actually been thinking about doing the half next year myself!! Do you know when registration opens up?

(As a CM, I really enjoy that day because when I come into work, I get to rock out to the awesome music they play for the event in Frontierland while I play human Frogger trying to run across the marathon route to get to Splash )

...woo! I just registered! (CM discount... just $5 off?! Really?! Ah, well, it's not like they have trouble finding participants!)

Now, I've already ordered my roommate to kick my butt into gear for training and make sure I'm not one of those kids picked up for not keeping pace.

I'm running the half. I don't have near the stamina for the full. Although the fact that I used to run each day on a huge hill back home in Seattle really built up the muscles. Here, I've mainly been hiking, usually 7-8 mile trips once a week. I really need to get back into running regularly here, especially now while the weather is still tolerable... before summer comes and I have to run after dark. (Yay for living in a safe neighborhood!)

This would be a great support thread for encouragement and sharing training development!

Ya! Im also running the half. I'd have to train for YEARS in order to get the full! How are you going to start your training? Running for time or for distance( i.e. 30 minutes of running or 3 miles of running)

I'm running for distance. I know I can run a few miles at a 15 min/mile pace, so I just want to run at that pace consistently, building up my stamina at that particular pace. Luckily, I have a friend down the street that is a marathon runner and he invited me to train with him, so I have a running buddy! (I also joined mapmyrun.com to keep track of my training runs)

Cool! Fortunately or Unfortunately, my running buddies is my family...so I'll be training with them.

BTW: If you have an iPhone or ipod touch there is an application for MapmyRun. It works pretty well!

Awww! I really want an iPhone but can't afford the plans at the moment. I do have an iPod, but it's not the Touch.

Yup! I saw it somewhere... can't remember exactly how I found it, though.

Here's a map of the course:

http://adisneyworldsports.disney.go....ARATHONMAP.pdf

Im debating if I'm going to register for it. I'll be moving to Florida for college, but I dont know if I'll be able to do the half-marathon....and it's already 65% full. hmm...

I'm fairly confident that I can finish the 12-so miles, but I dont know if I'll have the time to run in it...

Do it! You've got ten months to train for it!
