Pretty much.

That's basically the reason why Beastly Kingdomme as originally concieved will not be seen at AK. Lost Continent at IoA borrows heavily from what that area was suppose to look like (especially the area that wil become the Wizarding World of Harry Potter).

but of course...those commercials are still annoying.

Wait, the commercials?

Are y'all talking about the "Fairy tals and pixie dust aren't your thing," campaign?

I thought that was genius (from a strickly marketing perspective). It plays off on the "Disney is for kids" misconception in a passive-aggressive way. A bunch of non-Disney freak-friends I have thought it was hilarious.

Anybody agree with me?

I do agree partly with this quote. It is true that Walt did not like the whole carnival theme. This means the games that they have at chester and hesters. I am not sure how he would feel about the ride Primeval Whirl though. I absolutly love that ride though. The reason I partly agree with your thoughts on this area is because of what Walt wanted. But the reason i also disagree with you is what other have said, When walt left he left the care of his parks to the imagineers. Its the imagineers that have the final say and obviously what they said went through. I heard the story line on why chester and hesters came to be and it makes sense why it is carnival style. (please forgive me if i mess up on a few names i am a bit rust on my past talk with the imagineers and managers)

The idea main idea for dinoland was this: There was once a man who found a bone in this area and it turned out to be a dinosaur bone. Well as you know, when you find a bone a dig starts. Thus the digging came. After the area was all dug up and done with the area became a scientist area where scientists came to learn and convers about their findings. After a while it also attracted the palientoligist graduates and they came for study as well. You can walk into dino land(especially in resturant-osaurus) and see the difference of the cultures. There are areas where you can see the kids sproused things up to thier liking....OK now to chester and hester...lol.

A man found a bone and thought at once that i was a dinosaur bone. He heard of this science area and headed straight for there(the dinoland area) Once he got there the bone turned out to be nothing more than a regular bone, nothing special. Yet while he was there he found a way to make money off this area...thus creating chester and hesters area. It was a place on the side of the highway that cars went and it was to be a tourist attraction (You can also tell that the gift shop was a gas station for the cars originally)

So that is the story of chester and hesters...lol.

On a really cool random note, if you go on the Dinosaur ride and go into the main chamber where you get onto the time machine, you can look at the pipes and on three of them the pipes are white, yellow, and red. On these pipes are scientific equations that are the exact ones to make ketchup, mustard, and Maonaise. Its because this ride was sponsered by mc donalds.

Bringing up the mythological creature land...lol. I was told about that land. I have seen the land that it was suppose to be on. Technically camp minnie mickey should not be there. It was ment to be temporary. You were suppose to be able to walk into the land and choose two paths a path of light and dark (like in universal it is fire and ice). The light side had all the good animals like unicorns and fairies. On the dark side there were evil animals like a griffin. And from there you got on the ride.....It was very much like the ride at universal and thus it was not good to make. After that the idea for the land fell.....Like i said before, camp minnie mickey was to be temporary..but it is still a nice cute little area for kids and the young at heart.

Another cool note, when you walk over the bridge to the camp, on the right of the bridge is a mythical animal rock sculpture water flowing from its mouth. Its kind of a memorial to the land that has never been for the animals that have never been.
