I am not a big fan of the carnival kind of thing there either, but Primeval Whirl is kind of fun....

How many of you know that Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure was a Disney designed ride. It was originally intended for Animal Kingdom but for some reason they ditched the whole mythological creatures idea and sold the concept to Universal.......

Anybody agree with me?
Well when you put it that well Mickeymania1. Then yes they should replace it with something else.

The Chester and Hester story seems so tacked on. Not everything in a Disney Park has to tell a story.

I have to say I was a little dissapointed. All it was was cheezy carnival games and a dumbo-esque ride, but the Primeval Whirl was pretty fun. But I made up for it by going to Dinosaur right next door. :)

Hate Primeval Whirl, dislike the area. I got ripped off on midway games and won an El Hideoso Grande stuffed animal.

I hate that whole area. I don't like Primeval Whirl and I think that Dinosaur was a huge letdown.

I like Dinosaur. I wouldn't consider it part of Chester and Hester's though. It's a completely different concept.

I actually like Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl, but the carnival atmosphere is so un-Disney...*represses shudder*

It seems as though Dinoland USA was foreshadowing DCA.

I never understood the point of the Carnival in Dinoland. It doesnt even fit the theme. I mean the carnival portion that is. The dinosaurs and the area surrounds are great. But thats just my opinion.

I don't care. I think Primeval Whirl (the spinning coster) is awesome!

Wow, this board is dead - I think that the carnival is totally out of place there. Maybe some sort of precursor to DCA?

Not true.

The Dragon Tower attraction that was slated to go into Beastly Kingdomme was an inverted coaster, but it was themed to bats helping you escape from the Dragon's Tower, and featured (supposedly) a 60 ft animatronic dragon. Budget constraints forced Disney to lay off several Imagineers who got jobs with Universal Creative, who were working on Islands of Adventure at the time.

Those Imagineers took the idea of a Dragon roller coaster with a castle-like queue and dropped it in IoA. The story shifted to Dueling Dragons because of the desire for a two-track system. The dueling ride design was a custom creation by Boliger and Mabillard (B&M) Coasters.

Disney can't challenge Universal on the concept because Dragons and Castles are general domain. The bats storyline wasn't used, so there is no infringement or "theft."

Disney would NEVER "sell" an idea to Universal. They would rather a concept rot in their own vault than be utilized by a competitor.

Well Disney basicly dug its own grave by laying off those Imagineers. The things that happen when your mistakes come back to haunt you. A few years ago I was angry with Universal for bad mouthing Disney on its commercials. Now I completley understand why.
