Expedition: The Galleria! That'd be so totally awesome! ...Instead of a monster you could, like, have, i dunno, one of those scary cosmetic ladies like, you know, trying to spray stuff on you! ...omigawd!

Getting back on topic...I watched both videos yesterday & I thought it was a neat ride. Fits perfectly into the WDW style of nothing really incredible, but just cool enough to make those turnstiles click like crazy.
I think the fairest comparison to make between Matterhorn & Everest (if there exists a fair comparison) is to compare then in the time each one opened. If you do that, Matterhorn wins by a landslide. (There's a pun in there, somewhere) There isn't anything that revolutionary done in Everest. I can't think of a coaster that dealt with track that had been ripped apart before, but technology-wise Everest is just using what exists & not really being that innovative. Matterhorn, on the other hand was the epitomy of innovation. It was the first roller coaster to use tubular steel rails for crying out loud. Nothing like it had ever been built before & you see its legacy worldwide today. So while Everest has a cool thing going on with the Yeti ripping up the coaster track...Matterhorn, like Disneyland itself, will still be the original one. -- Peoplemover "Of course I'll be riding this one next time I can get out there " Matt

My brother and I just finished watching that last video, the first thing that came out of his mouth was, "oh it's a bigger Matterhorn." Even though I wanted to smack him for saying something so dense, he is right. Everest is just a larger matterhorn.

Is it just me, or does the Yeti look like a giant wolf when you see him at the end of the ride, NOT the video projection.

I have no clue. I think that the matterhorn and expedition everest should not be compairded anymore. If you want to compair Expedition Everest with anything thats in the DLR compair it to our new Space Mountain. Personally I think our Space Mountain is better than Expedition Everest.

Don't forget how much area the attraction takes up. Betcha it could take up all of DLR's Fantasyland!
If they had the space in the Matterhorn, the probably would upgrade the Abomindable. Cool video! Best mountain in WDW by far.

I can't really say anything about your second statement, because it is really hard to compare the two. I was just saying that now that i've seen the POV, I'd rather ride Expedition Everest if I were to pick.

Here's what Matterhorn & Everest have in common: fake snowy mountain, roller coaster, Yeti. That's it. Just because of this, you see comparisons going on between the two all over the place. Folks, think beyond just those three things.
I know why WDW'ers want the comparison - because compared side-by-side, Everest wins. They don't stop for one moment to remember that Matterhorn's been there for 40 years before Everest came around. They just think "Ha! We got us a snowy mountain now & ours spits on yours! WDW superiority!" or something like that. They don't belong being compared together. Everest is a welcome addition to the Disney mountain range, it's going to be a staple for years & years, it gives Animal Kingdom some good added legitimacy as an all-day park & that's all great. It's not a clone of Matterhorn by any stretch of the imagination. It's modern, it's unique, it's not based off a movie ( ), it's a great fit for where it's at, WDW folks can't ride it in Magic Kingdom like we can w/ Matterhorn, it's a great ride, I say leave it at that.-- Peoplemover "We have the better looking Yeti " Matt

This ride is great! I just seen both videos and I can say once I go to Walt Disney World, I will definitely consider going on this ride. I've been reading all of these posts on this thread and I understand why you're comparing both The Matterhorn Bobsleds and Expedition Everest. But, you have to think about it, it's an advanced The Matterhorn Bobsleds. The sequel, I'm thinking about it. Also, I heard that Disneyland Tokyo are also having the similar ride over there. If my opinion is somehow insulting to you because I said it's like a sequel, I'm sorry, but it's kind of like that to me. The Matterhorn Bobsleds was first, then came in Expedition Everest.

Comparing the two is like comparing the CGI creatures in movies now to the old stop-motion animation of Ray Harryhausen. I prefer Harryhausen because his creatures seem magical, rather than merely realistic.

I think people need to relax. There's nothing wrong with comparing EE and Matterhorn, they are very similar rides, and if someone wants to say EE is the superior ride (which it probably is), that's perfectly okay. It doesn't take anything away from Matterhorn or Disneyland. EE is not a threat to us.

I have found an On-Ride Video of Expedition Everest, but I want permission from the moderators to post. I think it should be all right seeing it's only doing VIP Previews. Still I need the moderator's response!
