There is no denying that Spaceship Earth does in fact look like a golf ball in some way. Why they mention it? I don't know----I'm guessing it is to acknowledged that they know that guests think that.

there is a big difference between them visually if you actually look at it. A Golf ball has small circular curves. While Spaceship earth is a geodesic sphere---- consisting of : Triangles. (to put it bluntly because there is obviously more to it then just "triangles")

But actually, I think it is more appropriate that golf balls are "those small spaceship earths".

This thread is gold. haha.

It DOES look like a golf ball. I don't mind when people call it that. I do sometimes from time to time. I think its hilarious when tourists are like, "Hey let's meet at the giant golf ball after lunch."

:D

WHY?!?!?!?
Why? Because its shape resembles that of a golf ball. And it's bumpy texture gives it an extra golf ball look.

Now if they said it resembles a giant wheelchair (something not round or ball shaped) then I would be confused.

I remember last summer when i went for the first time, I called it a giant golf ball. It does look like one, especially when ur driving into the parking lot. So, I'm sorry, but I have nothing wrong with them calling it a golf ball. Plus, they're probably just trying to help people visualize it. u know?

I myself refer to it as a golf ball sometimes, and for some reason whenever my friends(non disney fans) say it is I always correct them. Maybe it's my Disney Fan correctional habit that we Disney Fans tend to get. Hahaha

It's take a pretty big club to whack that "golf ball!" hehe!
But lets be serious it doesn't really bother me that much. When I was 4-6 years of age I only called Epcot "the park with the big giant ball" which now seems more disrespectful than calling Spaceship Earth a giant golf ball. I'd prefer they call it a sphere of some sort but it doesn't bother me too much atleast.

They do, but it's more of a joke there. I still don't like it when Spaceship Earth is referred to as a golf ball. It really annoys me. :P
