i was happy with it. they could have done more to actually involve Mexico...the ride really is Finding Donald and just happens to be set in Mexico...but I was glad to not only see a Fab Five member featured in an attraction but also to see some rarely used characters.

maybe this will spawn new interest in the film (which is great by the way)

Well, Donald is obviously American. Jose (the green one) is South American (do know what country) and Panchito (the red rooster) is the Mexican. Just clearing things up.

I saw a video of it. I don't know what it was like before the refurb, but even though it doesn't quite tie in the Mexican/South American cultures as people say it did before it is still a pretty nice little ride.

That's just my opinion

Jos? Carioca is from Brazil, and got his introduction in the film Saludos Amigos. Panchito is from Mexico, and apeared for the first time in The Three Caballeros.

"On June 7, 2006, a Mexican visiting Epcot came of the El Rio del Tiempo ride and subsequently that the merchants in the ride were offending and real mexican merchants wouldn't do that. He then tried to get him to buy a poncho the same way the merchants in the ride did."

The previous report is fake and is my opinion on one of Disney's problems these days. I have only been to WDW twice (as of now) and went on the A+
El Rio numerous times, sure it would be there on my next trips. However, I was really annoyed when finding out Gran Fiesta was coming and actually sent a letter about Gran Fiesta (and considered closure of Carousel of Progress) to 3 Disney people and Roy himself (about the aforementioned COP part espescially). I eventually got a letter back telling me about the legal system. What?!

I personally think that P.C. is too out of hand these days:
X on Song of the South
X on "In Pizza we Trust" at some Chuck E. Cheese stores
and X on the merchants from El Rio
I personally thought that the merchants were funny, not offensive.

Also, Disney has become a bit too biased.
Do people really pay attention to the storylines of the POTC films? Not much
The only reason the movies are popular is because of John Depp and Orlan Bloom. This led to the new POTC which is now, as many call it, pure marketing.
I say that Disney needs to see this site and look at every thread and forum.

Eventually, Disney may close down World Showcase for a couple years to make it: Character International.
It would feature:
Gran Fiesta Tour starring The Three Cabalerros:Take a boat ride through Mexico as Jose and Panchito look for Donald
Maelstrom A Daisy Duck Adventure:You are touring Norway with Daisy who loves Norway so much, she runs for leader and wins. Norway is then turned into a gift shop, and the movie is Daisy's campaign videos
Iago and Zazu's French Adventure:While on tour, Iago knocks down the Eiffel Tower and he and Zazu must fix the problem
and others

Rant Done.

That would be my worst nightmare come true. However I feel somewhat optimistic because of Epcots new management.

Epcot's new management already got rid of that godforsaken wand off of the Spaceship Earth and are refurbishing the ride.

You have to be lucky enough to be there right at the right moment, but in the first screen where Donald has all those hats and is taking pictures you can see for a second the funny Aracuan bird from the movie (the crazy one that goes yuppa-yuppa-yuppa).

I never went on it yet, but I think it's a good idea.

3 reasons why I like the idea:
1. FINALLY something non-pixar. Too many pixar rides, not enough Disney (even though pixar is part of Disney)

2. People complained the old ride being too cheap and touristy. (But I didn't mind it.)

3. Something [semi] new in World Showcase

I know one person who would love this ride: my sister! She loves the movie and she ADORES Donald! By the way, I know that Tony Anselmo voices Donald here, but does anyone know who does the voices of Jose and Panchito here? I'm pretty sure it's the same actors that voiced them in House of Mouse, but I would like clarification.

It was excellent imo.

The new animation was beautifully done by the great Eric Goldberg. I'm glad that they didn't make Donald a 3D character... ugh...

Seriously, the classic Disney characters don't translate well into 3D.
