I'd have to say that I still enjoy Disneyland a lot better than The Magic Kingdom. Sure it was a great park and I'd have to say it has become my second favorite amusement park that I've ever been to, but Disneyland still remains number one. Here are my thoughts...

Magic Kingdom - Bigger isn't necessarily better. To me it seemed as though I had to walk a lot more to see a lot less. At Disneyland it seems as though you can get off of one ride and a short walk later you're on another. At The Magic Kingdom it seemed to me to be quite a bit of a walk.

Pirates of the Carribean - Ughh that was a joke at TMK. There were like 4-5 scenes that were cut out of the Disneyland version, enough to make me feel as though I were cheated out of something in the ride. I only rode it once.

The Haunted Mansion - This ride I do have to give TMK props for. While Disneyland's queue area has its charm, as for the ride itself I do have to say that I like TMK's version better. The extra scenes were quite nice. I did ride this mulitple times.

Splash Mountain - This is another ride that TMK is on par or possibly slightly better than Disneyland. The ride at TMK seemed to move slower along, extending out ride time and allowing you to experience more. However maybe it was just me, but the final drop at TMK's Splash Mountain didn't seem as intense as Disneyland's version.

Big Thunder Mountain - On par with Disneyland's version.

The Matterhorn - Alas it felt as though there were a big gaping hole in TMK's skyline where a beloved mountain should be at.

It's (a tiny) a Small World - This ride is another joke at TMK. Small World at Disneyland has a commanding presence in it's corner of the park. At TMK it's just crammed into some building with a cheap looking facade to make it look like Disneyland's. The ride itself seemed too short and like a cheap rip off. I only rode this ride once.

Fantasyland - TMK's Fantasyland = cheap plastic looking. Disneyland's Fantasyland has more of a magical charm in this most magical land.

Rivers of America - At Disneyland the waterfront along Frontierland, part of Adventureland, New Orleans Square and Critter Country adds a certain charm to that section of the park. At TMK it seemed as though the river and the Liberty Bell river boat were just crammed into a corner of the park as an afterthought. It was somewhat dissapointing.

Space Mountain - Disneyland's queue is by far better. As for the ride, as previous posters have noted it also is not as great as Disneyland's version. It wasn't bad, as I did enjoy the ride, but the ride itself reminded me more of the Matterhorn (the bobsled style sleds, lack of music and bumpy ride) than it did remind me of Disneyland's Space Mountain.

Finally I will say that I did have fun and I did enjoy myself at TMK but for my next Disney vacation, I definately will be returning to Disneyland.
This basically covers it all!! I agree with you 100%!!!!! I feel the same way on everything you said!!!! I love WDW as a whole but disneyland is deffinitly better than MK(I am going to be going to WDW more though since I work here...lol but i can't wait to visit Disneyland again!!! :)

I love both resorts! Disneyland is just a bit dearer to my heart.

Looking back upon my WDW trip, I do have to say that I miss the 4 parks now. Each had their own good points about them.... Illuminations : Reflections of Earth at Epcot was awesome, Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom might have taken the spot for best Disney coaster from California Screamin in my opinion, and Hollywood Studios was OK, but I was reminded a lot of Disney's California Adventure there. Oh and seeing Block Party Bash at Hollywood Studios when I first saw it at DCA during Disneyland's 50th was weird. :) Don't get me wrong, Disneyland is still #1 in my book, but I definately will be returning to WDW sometime in the near future. But in the meantime, how about Disney send the defunct Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams off to The Magic Kingdom and have TMK send Spectromagic out towards Disney's California Adventure (since the parade is too large for Disneyland's Main Street). I'd be a happy camper then. :P

Funny how the perception is actually backwards since Hollywood Studios came before DCA. That always throws me every time I go to WDW.

Unfortunately Magic Kingdom's Parade Housing Units are rather outdated, so the floats they house are equally outdated. MK's current facilities simply cannot accomodate Parade of Dreams' floats. The finale float of the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade which on its 3rd re-tread, was originally built at least 20 years ago. 20 years ago! MK needs to completely overhaul their daytime parade stuff soon because there's a lot of potential that's being summarily wasted.

I find it interesting that most of the votes for DLR on this thread come from people on the west coast. For me WDW takes the cake. DLR has a nice charm, but after about two days there I am pretty much done with the place. At WDW I have no problems spending a week there without doing the same things over and over.

^ Yayy!!!!!!!!! My point exactly. Although I can see how people who have had their first disney visit there, or who have grown up with it, will always have it as their favorite park! I still think there is much more to do at WDW, and it is close to my heart!

Well I would hope a Resort that's 47 square miles large has more to do than one that's 150 some odd acres...

But that is the whole point. Now if the question had been which do you like better, DLR or the Magic Kingdom, that would be different.

I voted WDW, but I've never been to DL. I love to walk around in the Magic Kingdom, and BPB is at WDW! If I ever get to go to DL (hopefully I will..), I'll probably change my mind. Who know's, both parks are pretty magical.

P.S. - That feeling you guys talk about getting when you are in DL, that's the feeling I get walking around the MK or watching a parade. It's just magical.

DLR is much more magical because it was the original park and it still has a lot of Walt's influence in the park and it is closer to where i live.

Some people like the 12oz Kobe Beef steak, others like the 32oz Sirloin. They're both great steaks, but I know which one I'd pick given the choice between the two.

*sigh* Darn it all, PMM, you've gone and made me hungry! I never ate breakfast, but I guess I could go get an early start on making lunch! Gone grilling!!

All jokes aside, I like DLR for the history and MK because I get there more, I like the versions of most rides there better (This excludes Pirates, of course), and... I'm sorry, you have to figure the castle in this, and while Sleeping Beauty Castle is a right wonder in it's own right, nothing can top Cinderella Castle, especially when the light it up at night so beautifully.
