To be honest, I love both. Why? Because every time you visit either resort, there's always something new to experience that you didn't experience at the other. The buildings and the overall architecture make disney fans curious and the difference between their favorite rides makes them wanna know more. And the fact that each resort has something that's only available in a certain area is what makes them wanna come try both. For me, if I want a vacation with a little disney, it's Disneyland for sure. If I want a vacation that's nothing but disney, it's Disney World all the way.

I'd be willing to visit Walt Disney World Resort, but Disneyland Resort is my first love and it holds a special place in my heart more than other Disney parks.
Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon, Sesshomaru-sama

Having litterally just gotten out of The Magic Kingdom at WDW for the first time (I'm sitting in the hotel room with my laptop right now), I can finally give my opinion on this question. I'd have to say that I still enjoy Disneyland a lot better than The Magic Kingdom. Sure it was a great park and I'd have to say it has become my second favorite amusement park that I've ever been to, but Disneyland still remains number one. Here are my thoughts...
Magic Kingdom - Bigger isn't necessarily better. To me it seemed as though I had to walk a lot more to see a lot less. At Disneyland it seems as though you can get off of one ride and a short walk later you're on another. At The Magic Kingdom it seemed to me to be quite a bit of a walk. Pirates of the Carribean - Ughh that was a joke at TMK. There were like 4-5 scenes that were cut out of the Disneyland version, enough to make me feel as though I were cheated out of something in the ride. I only rode it once. The Haunted Mansion - This ride I do have to give TMK props for. While Disneyland's queue area has its charm, as for the ride itself I do have to say that I like TMK's version better. The extra scenes were quite nice. I did ride this mulitple times. Splash Mountain - This is another ride that TMK is on par or possibly slightly better than Disneyland. The ride at TMK seemed to move slower along, extending out ride time and allowing you to experience more. However maybe it was just me, but the final drop at TMK's Splash Mountain didn't seem as intense as Disneyland's version. Big Thunder Mountain - On par with Disneyland's version. The Matterhorn - Alas it felt as though there were a big gaping hole in TMK's skyline where a beloved mountain should be at. It's (a tiny) a Small World - This ride is another joke at TMK. Small World at Disneyland has a commanding presence in it's corner of the park. At TMK it's just crammed into some building with a cheap looking facade to make it look like Disneyland's. The ride itself seemed too short and like a cheap rip off. I only rode this ride once. Fantasyland - TMK's Fantasyland = cheap plastic looking. Disneyland's Fantasyland has more of a magical charm in this most magical land. Rivers of America - At Disneyland the waterfront along Frontierland, part of Adventureland, New Orleans Square and Critter Country adds a certain charm to that section of the park. At TMK it seemed as though the river and the Liberty Bell river boat were just crammed into a corner of the park as an afterthought. It was somewhat dissapointing. Space Mountain - Disneyland's queue is by far better. As for the ride, as previous posters have noted it also is not as great as Disneyland's version. It wasn't bad, as I did enjoy the ride, but the ride itself reminded me more of the Matterhorn (the bobsled style sleds, lack of music and bumpy ride) than it did remind me of Disneyland's Space Mountain. Finally I will say that I did have fun and I did enjoy myself at TMK but for my next Disney vacation, I definately will be returning to Disneyland. FANTASMICAL!

Quite a while ago I started a thread pretty similar to this one. Because I was curious, I went back and read people's responses from two years ago.
Through and through, I came to the conclusion that this topic was much more touchy two years ago. The thread started out with a title very much like yours, but it had to be changed because the moderators thought that it might create too much of a rift in the community. Some food for thought... I guess... Just for the record... I totally voted for DLR! Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World?

I don't see anyway to compare the Disneyland Resort with Walt Disney World. Both offer a completely different experience. Why not just enjoy them both for what they are and leave it at that?

Disneyland. We went to WDW in 2004 after not having been to DL since 1995. We decided then that DL was better. It was almost unbelievable how much better DL had gotten when we went back in 2005. I would say it is almost perfect now. Very close and accessible no matter where you stay in the nicely upgraded Anaheim Resort area. With Downtown Disney and DCA adjacent, It can't get no better than that.

I am definitly a Disneyland Fan! I absolutly love Disneyland. It is true that when you walk in there you get a feeling you just dont get in any other disney theme park...but at the same time disneyworld has so much for lots of people....So with this vote i said disney world....(The holiday season is amazing here as well!!!) If it came down to parks I would definitly say Disneyland...but as a whole, Disney World.

i like both of the parks. i love disneyland a little more only because walt was there. each park has it's own charm. yes wdw is larger but when disneyland was built he only had enough to purchase the land and build. i will be at wdw this december for mousefest. i enjoyed my time there i am going back. i do go to the local park every two weeks.. both park has thier own magic.
