Pop-up ghouls in the attic were ultimately deemed "too scary."

Why would they discard the ghouls in the Attic, yet keep the ones in the graveyard scene?

Basically, Disney thought it was time for the Haunted Mansion to get a makeover. One of the biggest and most noticeable makeovers is the new holographic ghost bride in the attic. Why they did it? I don't know, but it's pretty cool. Anyway, to add to the illusion and story of this bride being an insane axe wielding murderer who kills her late husbands so she can remain rich, they added a cool effect in which every time you pass by the portraits of her late husbands, their heads disappear. The attic heads as you mentioned were not only removed because they were too scary, but because disney felt the heads would be a distraction from the new illusions. I don't mind when disney makes upgrades, but yeah I do kinda agree with you. The heads should've stayed. As for the graveyard scenes........yeah, I ain't got an answer for that yet.

I think there should be a mix of both personally. Maybe the pop up heads can be the heads of the bride's murder victims. Only this time they say things like "don't marry her. It's a trap", "You'll be sorry", or something like that. You know. Make it frightful but light-hearted.

Well with the movie being dubbed a flop at the box office, I can't say as I blame them for trying something different with the bride.

Well, I'm one of those people who hate things popping up to scare you, so I'm glad the attic ghouls are gone. As for the new Constance, I think she is more sinister and fits in better, and is definitely more lifelike than the previous Bride. The heads that pop up in the graveyard are enough for the effect, I can pick them before they pop up and even when they do they still make me jump haha.

Makes sense. I don't mind having the imagineers update their classics, but this much I can say, if they mess with the hitchhiking ghosts, there will be room for one more LOL.

has anyone noticed too that the head in the graveyard scene pop up much slower than they used to? I just thought i should point that out...... I also agree that the new Constance is a whole lot better. I think the ride makes more sense. For a long time I always wondered why there was a random bride in the attic and why the was that little woman at the end of the ride. Because of the upgrades the ride seems to have more of a story.

I like the new bride.

*dodges churro night sticks and Dole Whip lashes* HEAR ME OUT FIRST!

The old bride was creepy and a bit unclear to the younger rider, and the heads popping up in the attic just added to me not wanting to ride it! The new bride, insane and cheesy as she is, makes more sense, and while I'm still not a steadfast mansion fan, it gives me one more effect to focus on: her hologram (yes, I know how it works, but getting technical just ruins the atmosphere of the ride, and that's what I want for me because I'm sorry, but I HATE GHOULS).

Alright, have at it. *destroyed by edible weapons*

Cool

yh i saw some vids on Youtube an all, and the other thing it nearly looks as if the ride is about to break down. Those ghosts or ghouls in the graveyard tombstones don't rise as they usually would. Maybe they're dusty from the years.
