I much prefer Disneyland to the Magic Kingdom. To me, Disneyland is much more intimate and cozy, very home-y. You can feel the magic and everything is close and friendly. Everything is easy to reach, since it's smaller than the magic kingdom. The main difference is that at Disneyland, you can feel Walt's spirit. Walt and the original imagineers designed, built, lived and breathed Disneyland. The Magic Kingdom, though a few of the original imagineers returned to work on it, doesn't have that same feeling. Lots of people argue that WDW is bigger and better, but to me, Disneyland is home, my favorite place in the world, while WDW is more of a vacation spot.

Those are my feelings. I know some people may not agree, but I don't care. Disneyland will always be the best to me.

See I have never been to WDW, but I imagine that my feelings would be the same as yours. I've wanted to go to WDW to see everything BUT the Magic Kingdom. Disneyland is what I grew up loving and I couldn't love anything else.

And I think DL's Haunted Mansion is better looking and more creepy than WDW's Haunted Mansion.

DLR is stable while WDW lost it after 2001.

Bad management, don't ask.

I was a little sloppy with my choice of words and might have implied that forced perspective doesn't exist in the Magic Kindom. It was used just not as much as it was in Disneyland, particularly on Main Street, USA.

Here's a quote from 101 Things You Never Knew About Walt Disney World: An Unauthorized Look at Tributes, Little Touches, And Inside Jokes, by Kevin Yee.

Quote:
The scale of buildings and vehicles is one immediately noticeable difference between the parks. Because Disneyland was built on less acreage, everything was often built to a small scale, utilizing “forced perspective” (features get smaller than real life as they get taller) to make buildings look bigger. While the Magic Kingdom also uses forced perspective, it does so with more subtlety and less often, because the park was built on more acres and offers the ability to create vehicles and buildings at full size.
Kevin Yee said it better than I did.

I grew up at WDW. I've never been to DL but I'm hoping to go soon.
Things I've noticed in pictures is that WDW's Space Mountain dome is larger, most likely to accommodate 2 tracks, star tunnel (queue), and the TTA.

What are the differences in Splash Mountain?

I'm going to WDW for the first time in December and LOVE Splash Mountain at Disneyland

I would say that Disneyland is smaller than the Magic Kingdom (WDW).
Some attractions are longer to.

Ex. The Haunted Mansion

Indeed, Disneyland is smaller in area than Magic Kingdom, and also has more attractions than Magic Kingdom.

Disneyland is smaller and it has New Orleans Square, plus Indiana Jones Adventure, a longer Pirates, a shorter Haunted Mansion, a Critter Country, Pirates Lair, a different It's a Small World, Roger Rabbit, a regular Toon Town without the fair, Mr. Toad, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Innoventions, Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, Star Tours, and the park is much older then MK.

The different Small World you're talking about is the first and original Small World from New York's World Fair.

Disney World does have Innoventions, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and Star Tours; but they're located in different parks in WDW.

What's more, Disneyland has a sort of history to it that no other Disney park, not even WDW, can match, no matter how hard they try.

Walt only agreed to make a Magic Kingdom in Florida because he wanted to build EPCOT there.
