Default "Celebrate A Dream Come True" Parade

So, the new Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade premiered on January 23, 2009. With very little practice, the parade comes off with a very emotional type of response similar to Wishes! Below is the link to view the parade:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYwBw...eature=related

What do you think of the parade? For the third time in a row to use the floats, the parade sure does come together.

Speaking as someone who's already seen it in person several times?

BARF.

Here's a review C&Ped from my LJ, opening day:

The Good:
-Mickey and Minnie on the same float, both talking. Cute! We've missed that in daily parades for awhile.
-The costumes on the characters on the final float (Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Chip, Dale). They're loud and over-the-top, but they fit the theming.
-Burt! YAY for having Burt!

The Bad:
-The music. Too sugary and sappy, like swallowing a big mouthful of maple syrup.
-The show stop. Really?! I'm a fan of show stops. I love them. I think that, done well, they can add a lot to a parade. This one? Not so much. The dance moves are nice, but that's really all there is to it. Um, you just dance the whole parade, why do you need to stop everything just to do it again?! If you're going to do a show stop, it needs to ADD something to the parade, not just do the same thing you have been doing. The streamers at the end are a cute idea (and I'm sure the very few kids that get them are happy), but REALLY unimpressive. It's like "Hey! We're too cheap to put a streamer cannon on our floats, so lets just have the performers throw them!" :/ Admittedly, I like that music because it's "Celebrate You" and I think that's a catchy song, but I am also disappointed that it's not Corbin Bleu's version. (I'm not really a fan of his at all, but I love how he did that song)

The UGLY:
-The dancers. Not that the performers themselves were bad - they did a fantastic job - but the whole IDEA. The only performers on the ground are the atmosphere dancers. And they all do generic dances. And they all wear the EXACT SAME COSTUMES. It's like watching the same unit go by over and over and over again. Seriously. It's formulaic. "Okay, here's a dozen dancers and a float. Aaaaand, a dozen more dancers that look exactly the same. And another float. And a dozen more dancers that look exactly the same..."
-The complete lack of props or ANY sort of themed costumes anywhere off the floats. It's like the theming can't touch the ground because OMG IT'S LAVA AND ONLY GENERIC DANCERS WEARING THE SPECIAL OUTFIT ARE SAFE! One of the funnest things about DDCT was the characters that would play and interact with the crowd as they went (the chimney sweeps and the pirates come to mind, especially, they were a blast).

Bottom line? It's like starting at a blank, white wall, instead of looking at one that's covered in a mural. One unit blends into another, and the uniqueness of each float is lost in the generic dancers and bland music. There's a serious lack of characters (maybe 3-4 with each unit, on average) and a serious lack of any sort of personality. It's easily one of the most boring parades Disney has put together... even more so than Parade of the Stars - and you Disneylanders know how bad that must make it. At least Parade of the Stars was VISUALLY appealing and had life to it.

Also, a note for anyone wanting to watch: if you want to see a show stop DO NOT sit anywhere between Splash and the opposite end of Pecos Bill's Cafe. The last float stops around the hot dog stand, so anywhere farther back than that will NOT see the show stop.

^ I think I'm gonna have to agree....I am really disappointed with this parade. It really wasn't all that visually interesting like so many of the other ones, and I agree about the off-float dancers that really doesnt make any sense

Personally, I didn't like the change to no characters on the street. They did add a lot to the parade. I didn't like the look of Mickey & Minnie's float and the castle float at the back. It looks like a birthday cake gone wrong. They should have done that to all the floats, or not at all.

But the music is a good, I like it. Though this probably will never happen, imagine what the parade's music would have sounded like with the POD floats. AHHH! I guess I can always dream. :[

Do we have a decent version of the show stop music we could put on VF Radio? It'd be interesting to hear them side by side (not a huge Bleu fan myself but I love his rendition of this).

I watched the DDCT parade at Thanksgiving, and I loved it. They're using the same floats, just different music and in a few places different characters, right? (I'm at school so I can't watch the parade video) That's rather lame. I mean, you have some seriously great things here, and you're not changing the parade theme that much. Maybe they'll continually add to it as things go along. The promotion and the parade's run have only just started. It'll shape up (we hope).

Pretty much, yes. They just changed the music and redecorated the first and last floats and added a took away a few characters.

I saw the DDCT Parade when I went in July. We went to the MK on July 4th (OMG! It was so crowded, but still fun!) and I loved being able to sing along to it. It was so catchy, but didn't have the corniness to it.

Hopefully the parade does change a little more, it does have some potential.

It doesn't look that great...

Being a dancer, I watch the dancers, and they weren't all together so it looked a little sloppy. It's probably just me, but that's my opinion. And I have to agree with xfkirsten. The costumes were so boring when everyone was wearing the same thing....I wish I could say I liked it, but I'm not gonna lie. :'( IMHO.

Like it, hate it, or be indifferent to it, it's more parade than Disneyland has right now.

So true. All we can hope is Disneyland's new "parade" is as "good" as the CADCT Parade. I just wish that they hadn't felt like they needed to change the parade, especially if it's not staying past this month..

If you look down to the end of the Daytime Parade section, it says that the CADCT Parade will not even be showing past this month.. the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Parade will premiere in March.. I know wiki isn't always right, but does anyone know it it's true?

Who knows. Maybe that's why they didn't spend so much money on it. They might be planning to keep both even.

Nope, that is actually not true. The Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! thing is something else entirely. That's basically the equivalent of the Family Fun Day Parade in terms of show setup - just down Main Street, a show in front of the castle, then back out. The regular day parade, CADCT, will continue in the afternoons.

Oh, okay. That'll be fun though. Maybe they'll do more with the parade later. Maybe they didn't spend a lot is because they are making the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! show.

Same here, but the music is really warming up to me.

Who knows, we can always be hopeful that it could still come.
