I'm still mad at myself. I wanted a digital camcorder badly but I shoulda waited another couple months and gotten an HD one :/ Particularly this one.

Mine is similar to that but only mine has x64 zoom and a few other things but other than that, it's basicly the same model as this camera.

after reading everything i am going to get the FX1. the FX7 does not have native 16:9 chips and the chips are smaller then the FX1. the fx7 has better resolution in well lit places and is better for dark rides and uses the new CMOS but in camparison the FX1 is a better buy. then i will have two cameras. my XL1 and HDR-FX1 from canon and sony.

I have a Sony HDR-HC3. I am planning on getting some great video of when we go in November.
I have a Rode external mic that I will take with me and see if I really need it. I would really like to get the audio straight from the rides and add background music.....but we will see what it sounds like.

cool as long as you got the work flow for HD on your system your set but beware of long rendering on higher resolution

I use a Sony DCR-TRV130, and I use this mount to videotape rides at Disneyland The black strips are velcro, so I put the other side of the velcro (the cloth side) on to a flat surface. That screw is the same size and threading as a tripod so it goes in where you normally put a tripod and clamps the acrylic (aka Plexiglass™) onto it.

I would have felt the same way, except I only paid only $75 for mine

I use a Cannon GL2

I used to have the GL1, but the Mini DV recording part stopped working the quality went way down, instead of bothering with tech support we sold it. Now i use the Cannon GL2 i can barrow it from school whenever i want to, they have three so as long as they always have one i can barrow it.

?What is the resolution on DV camcorders? For that matter, what's the resolution on Digital 8? I don't know the res of my own camcorder, it isn't stated in the manual

I believe, Mini DV has the capacity for 3,500 lines of resolution, CAPACITY your camera may be lower. Digital 8 has the same resolution.

those are great little cameras. not bad res for smaller 3ccd's. i was looking into getting one of those because it's the same picture as the xl2 just does not have the lens changing on it.

Thats not too bad, a bit better the VHS quality, thats whats nice about Mini DV is that it can be used in tons of cameras. There are a few HD camera's that use Mini DV and it comes off the tape HD quality.
