Question Camcorder Reviews

Greetings from the land of Sand and Camel Spiders...

I am curious what the members of the group are using for camcorders. I am going to buy a new camcorder when I get home from the desert and I am pretty much sold on the Sony DCR-SR100. However, while it is getting good reviews on the internet, I am more interested in a "Normal" user's opinion of it. It would seem we have similar intrests and shoot similar subject matter.

I am also interested in what other brands are being used by members of VF. While I am somewhat faithful to Sony... (Mostly because I have several Sony products and most acessories are interchangeable.) I also have an open mind. If someone can sell me on a different Camcorder great.

Thanks In advance

I have a Sony DCR TRV103 Digital 8 Camcorder. The only thing that bothers me about it is when it shoots in the dark it shows a lot of little white dots in the picture. I thinks its partially because I have the exposure turned all the way up, but then everything else would be too dark in the picture if the exposure was turned down. So thats my main problem with it.

I have an older Canon 8 mm camcorder that worked well until the turn of the milenium lol then it just stopped working. I really like Canon though, they are known for their lenses and I do have a Canon Digital camera that I have really enjoyed.
