Disney To Release Tron 2 and Pirates 4 in 2011?

Disney To Release Tron 2 and Pirates 4 in 2011?

Cinematical
A Disney spy reports that Disney has plans to release a bunch of sequels in 2011, one of which is their long-long-long awaited sequel to Tron. But a franchise much nearer and dearer to the hearts of a younger generation may also be revived — word has it that Disney also plans to release a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean.

You should really watch the making of Tron. They shot the movie (Computer Scenes) all in black and white. Took each frame and blew them up to animation cell size and then hand colored each cell. They pretty much made the movie half film and half animation in a sense. Very cool. Also the computer generated scenes ie., the light cycles, was very difficult to make. There was no way of being able to see what it was they were making like a preview to ram thing, and because of budget restrictions the light cycles almost never made it to film. If anything had gone wrong in their calculations in the rendering of that scene, it wouldn't have been shown. The creator of Tron actually designed the character more so for a Radio station commercial for TV LOL and some other companies used it as well. Just some tidbits. Tron also shows a hidden mickey in CG that takes up the whole screen but if you aren't paying attention you'll never have known LOL Figure that one out.

If there is such a TRON sequel that finally picks up where the 1982 computer generated film ended...I wonder what the storyline plot would be? After all, the hero of the story aka Flynn the programmer user sacrificed himself in a way, so to speak by distracting the Master Computer Program that allowed the other hero Tron to destroy the evil program with a virus created by his maker Alan Warden that freed all the hostage programs in the end.

At the same time, Flynn was returned back to the real world again through the digitizing laser machine and morphed back to his human form again to discover his stolen video game program files returned as usual and he became the new president of the INCOM company also alongside his friends Laura and Alan.

Default Tron 2 teaser

Tron 2 teaser

‘Tron’ Sequel Teaser Revealed
Jeff Bridges Returns For ‘TR2N’

Mtv Movies
During a Disney panel that was ostensibly set up to promote ‘Race to Witch Mountain’, the studio waited until the very end to reveal their new version of “Tron.” And the new film has an official title, ‘TR2N’. Yes, it is officially a sequel.

Since no casting or release date had even been announced for the film, the debut of fully completed footage, much less starring Jeff Bridges, caught everyone by surprise. And it wasn’t just the fact that Bridges appeared in the teaser, the Oscar-nominated actor appeared to be playing two different characters — Flynn (from the original) and a younger version of himself.

Here’s what was shown ... continue reading

Sweet! I love tron, I will say that the TR2N is a bit corny. But this movie will either be very nicely done, or it'll be awful. Since everything new at Disney recently is movie based, perhaps they'll get the People Mover going, and bring back the tron tunnel! That would be so awesome!

Just watched the trailer and it looks pretty spiffy. It's been forever since I've seen the whole of the original, but I remember being a little disappointed with what I did see... Kinda' dated and like there were more talking heads than really going anywhere.

I did like the look of Tron 2.0, what with Jet Bradley and an aesthetic more informed by Cyberpunk. I'm actually surprised they're not adapting that into the sequel, or using that title at least.

However, the trailer is impressive in the looks department and I hope they deliver on the goods.

I hope they make a video game to go along with it too. I played the demo version of Tron 2.0, I loved the Lightcycle modes and "Disc Duels" but the only issue was that no one was online for the multiplayer aspect of the game.

Even if no game comes out, this movie will be HOT when it comes out, I just know it!

It'll be a shame if David Warner also doesn't return;his Dillinger/Sark was one really great villian.
I don't even know if he's been in anything since Titanic, and that was 11 years ago!

I'm surprised! I'd heard about this quite awhile ago, but I figured it would never get off the ground. I never really thought much of "Tron" until it was included in the "Kingdom Hearts" series. And still I don't much care for the original film, although I can appreciate why others enjoy it. They could certainly do quite a lot more with the concept now!

Glad Disney's focusing on more big-budget sequels now that they're scrapping all the straight-to-video ones.

When I went to Disneyland the other day I was quite mad and upset when I saw the Tron Superspeed Tunnel just sitting there. I kept telling myself everytime I saw the PM track and PM platform "When is this thing coming back?!"

I asked a CM on Space Mountain and he sounded like he had no idea what I was talking about...I passed by and asked him "When is the PM coming back!?" and he paused for like 5 minutes (exaggeration) and said "Never!"
