Default Tree branch falls near DL guests

Tree branch falls near Disneyland guests

Tree branch falls near people at Disneyland

Orange County Register
A tree branch broke and fell onto a pathway this afternoon near the French Market restaurant in the New Orleans Square area of Disneyland. A Disney spokeswoman said it was one branch and that it did not fall on anybody. She said that no more than five people were near the branch when it fell. She said those people had minor scrapes.

Irvine resident Vicki Munsell was at the park today when the branch fell. She was there with her family celebrating her and her husband’s 14th wedding anniversary. Munsell and her family were eating at the Cafe Orleans restaurant when they heard someone shout and she turned around in time to hear the branch cracking and see it fall on a pathway.

She said people ran over right away to help. While Disney said the tree did not fall on anyone, Munsell said people were pulled out from underneath the tree. Still, Munsell agreed that she did not see anyone injured with more than a few scratches. After the branch fell, she said the area was blocked off by Disney cast members who removed the branch and checked on people nearby.

Can't help it when nature wants to say hello! Glad no one was hurt.

Maybe they should have had a Chicken Little costumed character running by it saying THE SKY IS FALLING!
Or... hehehehe... Maybe the tree was trying to "branch" out into new fields of work.
Maybe it thought it could fly by flapping it's leaves.
I can go on with the bad humor but like the branch... I'm gonna make like a tree and leaf.

Sorry couldn't resist.

Lightbulb The story you'll tell...

Can you imagine the anecdote that comes from this?

This one time, at Disneyland, a tree fell on me!

I'm confused about how people were pulled out from underneath the tree and had scratches ... but "it did not fall on anybody" ?!? Did the branch leap onto those people afterward? Did they crawl underneath it after it landed? Maybe it was a poor choice of words to try and emphasize that no one was crushed by the branch.

There was another tree accident not far from there in 2001. I wonder if anyone at DLR is doing a survey of tree health around Frontierland, NOS, and the RoA.

Cool Can't see the branch for all the twigs

Maybe they were under twigs, but not the main bough?

I considered "Tree branch falls on Disneyland guests" as a thread title, but, since they deny it... I thought I'd beter not.

I really hope nobody got a "splitting" headache from this.
Could it be the branch thought it was a Meet N Greet?
"Wood n't you know it hunny, Some has gone and Leafed their branch right in the middle of the walkway! Some nerve."
Disney decided to "bough" out of the interview by denying it happened.
LOL
Sorry.. I truly am glad nobody was seriously injured by this. I don't think anything is really wrong with the tree, they do that after some time. Besides, Disney's agricultural department is very top notch and I am sure they check out all the plants there regularly.

WOW... I really can't imagine pulling off some Dead Wood from Executioner.

The question is... did it fall on its own or did someone tackle it to the ground thinking it was a stick up?

If only it fell near Haunted Mansion, then we can blame it on the spooks, or if it was Critter Country maybe Pooh was on it LOL But the French Market? Maybe too many Mardi Gras beads?

Well if it was in Critter Country than we could have chalked it up to being that life was too much to bear for the branch to take, but alas it was in The French Market so maybe it just wanted to stick around somewhere and leaf a peaceful life.

Maybe it got lost and was looking for Splash Mountain... I know they have a lot of trees floating around over there... do you think this was a baby tree trying to find its mother?

I think I've been injured by all the puns! LOL.

Anyway, it's a-bough-t time Disney gets to the root of these tree issues.

Thank God it wasn't a branch from Tarzan's Treehouse!

I am just going to go "out on a limb" here and say that it might have been going on strike with the hotel union workers.
