Default 'Tinker Bell'

Disney's 'Tinker Bell' due in October 08

First Look: 'Tinker Bell' will fly solo, straight to DVD

USA Today
Disney is finally giving the Peter Pan sidekick her very own movie — and it's just the start of a fairy princess reign. The computer-animated Tinker Bell, out Oct. 28 on DVD and Blu-ray ($30 and $35), is the first of four fairy films in the works, a new one launching each year.

The movie represents something bigger, too: a refocusing of Disney's straight-to-DVD strategy. The studio will stop releasing sequels of classics such as Bambi, Lady and the Tramp and Cinderella, which have been a rich source of revenue. (Last year's Cinderella III, for instance, took in more than $80 million, estimates the Redhill Group tracking firm.) Instead, they'll go for "more original work, original stories," says John Lasseter, the force behind such animated hits as Cars and Ratatouille.

Disney makes another change to 'Tinker Bell' movies

Cinema Blend
As you may remember, Tinker Bell has never talked before. In previous movies she speaks with the voice of chimes or a bell, but no human understands her other than Peter Pan. Obviously that has to change for a line of movies following the famous fairy, and King of the Hill star Brittany Murphy was given the part. This week it was announced that someone else now has the job: Mae Whitman.

Whitman has worked with Disney previously, providing vocal work for The Jungle Book 2. She is probably best known for her voice work on Avatar: The Last Airbender, but you can see her in physical form way back in Independence Day where she plays the President’s daughter (and still provides one of the movie’s killer emotional moments for me).

Well, I'm glad they replaced Brittany Murphy. That is not the voice anyone wants to hear when listening to Tinker Bell.

Finally! My granddaughter has been a huge fan since she saw Tink, "Flying," 2005. She was only two then. Peter Pan is great, but I'm glad Tink is getting her own movie.

Default Brittany Murphy replaced, not fired

Brittany Murphy replaced, not fired

Disney Says Brittany Replaced, Not Fired

OK Magazine
Contrary to reports claiming Brittany Murphy was fired as the new voice of the Disney film Tinker Bell, a Disney rep tells OK! that Murphy actually bowed out because of a scheduling conflict. In a statement obtained by OK!, the Disney rep says, "When John Lasseter came on board, the schedule changed, and the new schedule didn't work for her."

Disney hired Murphy to be the new voice of Tinker Bell back in 2006. Actress Mae Whitman was announced as Brittany's replacement last month.

I agree with remixofsprite. I too wouldn't want to hear Brittany Murphy as Tinkerbell, but that's just me. I hope the movie does Tinkerbell's character justice. While I am not used to hearing and understanding Tinkerbell's speech, J. M. Barrie did have Tinkerbell speak in his novels. Being the literature nerd that I am, I support anything that the original author created.
