Ahh, I absolutely agree. I can't even begin to explain how excited I am about this.

I think Burton will do a great job with this version of Wonderland. All I fear is that it will severely clash with Disney's original vision of Alice. It'll be interesting to see how this is treated at the parks, especially with the characters.

But that fear aside, what will probably be neat about this version is that Burton will go for a much higher fidelity to the books than past versions. The thing that often irks me about Alice adaptations (including Disney's) is that a moral is always added. If read straight, without analyzing it too deeply, the original books were really just stunning (and very long) dreams and nothing more. I'm hoping Burton will do that aspect of Alice justice, as I have yet to see a good version of Alice that attempts this.

Hopefully he won't go all "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and add in something completely out of tune with the original story.

I'll check it out, but I think the original Disney version of Alice in Wonderland is totally better!

I feel that this movie is going to be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tim Burton has the directing skill and style (I feel) to show how the book really was--very dark and sinister! Not only that but I feel that he'd have the talent to create the world of Wonderland. I have full confidence that he'll do the book justice!

Historic house is a location for 'Alice'

Historic house unveiled as location for Tim Burton's Alice film

Plymouth Herald
Historic Antony House has been chosen as one of the filming locations for a blockbuster movie by Disney. The Herald has learned the National Trust property, near Torpoint, will be closed to the public from September 1 until October 14 to allow filming to take place. Filming on the Tim Burton-directed movie, Alice in Wonderland, will be staged over two weeks in September. The 18th century house, its garden and the Woodland Garden, are likely to be used for filming.

Antony is an early 18th century mansion set in parkland and fine gardens. The house has been and continues to be the home of the Carew Pole family for 600 years.

Brilliant...it will be brilliant. Tim burton does not dissapoint period and seems to be the kind of person who will only do work he knows he can bring something to, I am sure he is aware of the broad fan base of Alice in Wonderland fans, young to old, Disney film to original book, there are many movies already made of this story and all, to my thinking, have left something out...I am anticipating that this will become another one of his masterpeices and the best Alice to date.
For all of those people who cannot get over his vision for CATCF, and Johnny Depps portrayal of Willie Wonka, look up the author of the book and read about his life, he had a lot of bizarre and negative things happen to him consequently his stories and characters are also bizarre and pained...the first movie was glib and fancy with a side order of sarcasm, Tim Burton's movie was dark, yet moving, having layers upon layers of stylized scenes, (the word saturated comes to mind) and a lot more like the book...we all knew the story, we'd all seen the first movie, and loved them both...so why bother even seeing it?

Because Tim Burton directed it...that's why.

So now Anne Hathaway was cast to play the White Queen opposite Helen Bonham Carter's Red Queen. That's great too! She'll bring a little of that sweetness to the White Queen, but I think she can be a little wacky too. Carol Channing played a great White Queen :)

The White Queen is in "Through the Looking-Glass," as is the Red Queen. So is Tim making it so that both stories are in the same movie? The Tweedles were in "Looking-Glass", too. If they weren't there, they'd be missed.

What's going on with the storyline, then? And who's going to be the Queen of Hearts?

Anne Hathaway in 'Ella Enchanted' proves she can do wacky. Good for her, I'm a fan of her work. And haven't most movies that have been done on Wonderland been truly on 'Wonderland' and 'Looking Glass'.

Isn't the Queen of Hearts in the original the Red Queen?
It does sound like he's blending the entire Alice story into one film, which to me, is just fine. I think he's just using the Wonderland name in the title.

^The Queen of Hearts is a character from Alice in Wonderland. She rules over playing cards.

The Red Queen is from Alice Through the Looking Glass. She is one of the queens from the game of chess (the other being the White Queen) that provides the framework for the plot to Looking Glass.

I can't wait to see this movie. Other than the Princess and the Frog, there in no movie I am more excited to see than this.
