Default Hm...

Hope it's not too big a hit, or they'll feel that it's time to turn the Alice ride into a promotional sideshow for movie ticket and DVD sales, ala POTC, lol...

Geeze. Why would they want to try to spoil a great classic. I enjoy Mr. Burtons work but I don't think he is quite as suited recreate a childhood classic like this. Chances are he'll probably make it as strange as possible. I suppose I'll see for myself when if finally comes out.

Personally I would have loved it if He was doing his own version of the story and not for somebody else. But I think it will come out quite good though.

I agree 100%. I'm worried that rather than being fun, crazy, and off-kilter, like Alice in Wonderland is typically intended to be, it will be strange, creepy, and kind of dark. I really didn't enjoy his version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, for similar reasons as those mentioned above. I enjoyed the original so much, but I didn't like the darker tone of the new one. I know some people loved it, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

you guys just don't understand. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice are already dark to begin with, it's just diluted. If you've read both books of either Charlie and Alice, then you'd know. I think that you are going off of the Disney version of Alice, which goes about the story in a more playful way, and the same for the first Charlie movie, which was a musical, a.k.a. the brightest thing you can think of. Read the original of each, and you'd know that the stories are not as colorful and cheery as you believe.

I adored Tim's CATCF, and if his Alice is done in around the same style, then I think it will be brilliant. I just hope that his Alice doesn't change things at the parks; no re-doing of the teacups, please (or changing the characters; if that were to happen, I might just have to cry).

km2435, I don't believe that the stories are as dark as you like to think. Both were written with the kiddies in mind, after all. I think it's possible, though, to see how the stories can be dark. But I also believe that people make them out to be darker than they really were intended to be.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Tim does with Wonderland, anyway. He's a genius.

Default Mia Wasikowska cast as Alice

Australian actress Mia Wasikowska cast as Alice

Tim Burton finds his Alice
Australian actress in final negotiations for 'Wonderland'

The Hollywood Reporter
Tim Burton and Disney have found their new Alice — not in Wonderland or down the rabbit hole but Down Under. Australian actress Mia Wasikowska is in final negotiations to walk through the looking glass in Burton's take on Lewis Carroll's classic fantasy novel "Alice in Wonderland." The deal marks the end of a long search for the big-budget project's title character.

The film, based on a script by Linda Woolverton ("The Lion King"), will be produced by longtime Burton collaborator Richard Zanuck, former Disney chairman Joe Roth and Jennifer and Suzanne Todd. It will be shot with live-action and performance-capture footage and presented in Disney Digital 3-D. Disney creative executive Jason Reed will oversee the project, set to begin principal photography in November.

I wonder if we'll see a freaky and dark Cheshire cat in this movie, I think I can picture what it'll look like...*shudder*

Cool Johnny Depp rumor

This is still at the "gossip" stage, but the rumor going around is that Tim Burton is seeking to cast Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. Here's a bit on it at Digital Spy. Keep in mind, this is the same rumor mill that gave us Ryan Nikole Parker as Alice instead of Mia Wasikowska, so... it is to be taken with a grain of salt, mixed up in a walnut shell.

I can imagine Tim Burton directing a version of Alice... it's certainly a strange enough story and I can see how it would fit his style well.

Johnny Depp would be the most awesomest Mad Hatter, just be 10x kookier than when you were Willy Wonka

That actually would be a good role for him if you think about it, haha!

man Johnny Depp is getting a lot of roles where he's supposed to be whacked out,

He's rumoured to be playing the Mad Hatter in Alice, now he's rumoured to play The Riddler in the next Batman movie.

Tim and Johnny are always rumoured to be making films together. I wouldn't be surprised if Johnny is not cast as the Mad Hatter, but I'd love it if he was. I think he'd make a good Mock Turtle, though. If you ask me, any Johnny is good Johnny. What if they had him as the Tweedles? Double your pleasure, double your fun!

Default 'Alice' extra auditions overwhelmed

'Alice' extra auditions overwhelmed with applicants

Auditions for Disney film close after too many entrants arrive

Plymouth Herald
Hundreds of people who queued up for hours to audition for a Disney film have been left disappointed after casting agents have said 'no more today'. People young and old who queued up for the chance to be a star will now have to wait untill casting resumes tomorrow morning at 10am.

Around 300 people have already been accepted into the auditions and a further 300 people have been turned away. Just before casting closed for the day the team were handing out notes saying either 'yes' or 'no'. Those who were given notes saying 'yes' have been asked to come back tomorrow.

The casting agents of the new Tim Burton movie, Alice in Wonderland, saw the best that Plymouth had to offer in terms of extras. Some in suits, some in jeans and T-shirt, some in dresses, the cool, the geeky, the glamorous and the not so glamorous queued from the front doors of the New Continental Hotel where auditions are taking place.

People were still joining the queue late this morning which saw the back of the queue reach Jesters in Union Street. The turn-out this morning was so strong that the casting team had started to whittle down the queues even before they got into the hotel, picking out only those they thought stood a chance of getting picked. A casting team source told The Herald: "We are totally overwhelmed with the response."

The huddled masses and wannabe extras braved the Plymouth's uncanny and glorious summer weather from the very early hours. Some travelled for hundreds of miles to be here.
