Recycle your 3D glasses at 'Bolt'

RealD Goes Green with Walt Disney Pictures' 'Bolt'

When Walt Disney Pictures' newest animated comedy adventure 'Bolt' opens Nov. 21, 2008, audiences in more than 1,000 theatres will be able to recycle their 3D glasses in the theater. With the opening of 'Bolt', RealD is expanding a comprehensive eyewear recycling program, available for moviegoers to deposit their glasses after seeing a film. However, moviegoers will continue to have the option of keeping their glasses as a souvenir to remember their RealD movie experience.

"Like any successful recycling program, it's about making it easy for people to recycle," stated Michael V. Lewis, RealD chairman and CEO. "We appreciate the participation of our exhibitor partners and know that audiences will appreciate the convenience as well."

so is it this way in the park... are you ALLOWED to keep your glasses, they just encourage you not to by putting the buckets there? I have a pair from TSM :)

Now, if only they would let me reuse my glasses and not have to pay $3.00 every time we watch a 3d movie.
I have the glasses from Nightmare before Christmas, Meet the Robinsons, and Journey to the center of the earth 3D.
Why should I have to buy new ones every time?
This just sounds like someone in the company said, Hey, lets make a fake "GREEN" sounding plan of offering a recycle option....Plus we get to still charge everyone for new glasses, but we can just reissue them the recycled ones and we save money. Yay

I have my own 3-D glasses from the Scavenger Hunt! Yeah! PLUS, they're easily sneakable :)

It's not about paying for the glasses, it costs more money to make it a 3D movie and the theatres also pay more money to have the equipment to play a 3D movie. Being able to recycle them is cool, cause my Journey ones ended up in the trash but I think if they don't look stupid, I will keep them.

One time in Universal Studios Hollywood, in a showing of WaterWorld, I saw a Smoker character, who operates the machine gun on a boat during the atoll invasion, wearing 3-D glasses from Shrek 4-D. Even though he was wearing the show costume, the glasses made him look completely out of place. I thought it was funny.

Anyways, I like the fact that the glasses will be recycled, but I don't like the fact that we have to pay for the glasses everytime we see it, if we don't sneak them in. At least we have the option to keep them, though.

I will recycle my 3-D glasses eventually. I won't just throw them away. But I'm going to keep mine for awhile before recycling them.
