What with this, and the upcoming Rapunzel,I must admit that I'm a little down on the fact that,in a way, they're reverting back to fairy tales---and yes,I already know this is a modern take on the story---when in the 90's,they moved into other genres of storytelling, eventually doing such groundbreaking stuff as The Lion King.Hopefully, these new films will be successful enough for them to start thinking out of the box again.

k I can't STAND Randy Newman's voice! If he's going to do the music, please oh PLEASE don't have him singing any of it! Not even the ending credits! My son is obsessed with Toy Story so we are always watching or listening to it and it's like having someone run fingernails down a chalkboard! UGh!
K I'm done...other than that, so stoked! I love the fact that they do fairytale stuff. We need some happiness and some simplicity back in our lives :)

WHAT?!!! Who in their right minds would hire the man that might be solely responsible for the revival of Disney Animation? Menken is a MUST.

Okay, I respect John Lasseter as a filmaker, because I believe he has done some good work (hello, Toy Story) but I really hope he doesn't think he is not making a mistake (I mean, of coarse he is making a mistake, but still).

Oh, no... I just realized that. They'll probably re-theme a good bit of NoS after this film! And that could come off disastrously... or it could be decent. Knowing recent park renovations like this... I'm not keeping my hopes high for that. The movie looks decent, though, and we're finally getting a 'Disney Princess' that rounds out the major ethnic groups. We have six Caucasian, one Arab, one Asian, one Native American, and now one African American.

Well, as much as I love Alan Menken ("Beauty and the Beast" is my favorite Disney film after all), I respect Lasseter's choice for not picking him. Menken took the helm for "Enchanted", and Lasseter apparently thought someone else should do the next big Disney flick, so I can see eye to eye on that point. And Newman grew up in New Orleans so at least that adds to his credibility for this particular film.

But, I must admit, Newman would not have been my first pick. I actually would've picked someone like Harry Connick, Jr. myself. Again, raised in New Orleans, but in his case I think his music would've fit the tone of the film better.

But I won't strongly question Lasseter's decision on this. He's worked with Newman a lot (to Pixar's advantage) and Lasseter himself has done wonders for Disney. So I'll reserve judgement for the actual film. Which I am completely and utterly stoked about.

And you're probably right, AraBrokenDreamer. This movie screams for promotion in New Orleans Square. But I can't imagine anything major will be altered. Maybe just some minor additions to temporarily promote the movie. Anything bigger, like a dark ride, will come much later. And, if all goes well, they'll make more space rather than kick out one of the many classic attractions in the area if a big ride/show for the movie is ever added.

^When was the last time NoS got a face-lift compared to most of the other lands? And they have those empty store facades in there to fill... they have a lot of room to play, and when you play with that much, you won't just leave it for a temp promotion.

Aww heck, I'm looking forward to them tying this in with New Orleans Square. Anything to save us from Jack Sparrow! I'm not sure what all they could do besides a show or a walkthrough, but something! Imagine if this came out when they were looking to mess around with Tom Sawyer's Island.
