I am surprised that Disney Pictures would be taking on this project as opposed to letting Touchstone, which in my opinion is a more adult studios, take a rather violent video game like this...be interesting to see how this plays out...

It's gonna be Pirates with Persian nobility and desert fights rather than fights at sea. That's what they're more likely than not to do with it, and most of us I don't think would really mind. if it has the right kind of humor with all the action and drama we're likely to see, I'll go see it.

I see they changed the name of some of the characters for the movie (Farah changed to Tamina and they actually gave the prince a name). I'm sort of shaky about having Jake Gyllenhaal as the prince, but it's alot better than putting in Zac Effron.

Eww, Jake Gylenhall (sp?). Orlando would have been much better. He's a better actor than most people give him credit for.

Why Jake? I just don't see him as the character. Maybe the guy that played Prince Caspian, but Jake? I just don't get it.

Jake Gyllenhaal? (*sigh-*)

Why Jake Gyllenhaal?

Frankly, I don't think Effron was ever a serious consideration. And as for Orlando Bloom...

... he has got to be one of the most effeminate "manly" typecasts in Hollywood.

Orlando Bloom as a dainty elf in Lord of the Rings? Dead on!
Orlando Bloom as any sort of masculine character? Complete miss.

Shouldn't they pick an actor who is seemingly more... Persian?

^Oh, come on, Will was sort of masculine, I mean at the end of the sereies, not so much the beginning.

Default Disney moves 'Prince of Persia' to 2010

Disney moves 'Prince of Persia' to 2010

Disney pushes 'Persia' to 2010
Studio wants to allow time for post-production

Variety
Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have pushed back the release of fantasy actioner Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time by nearly a year, from June 19, 2009, to Memorial Day weekend 2010.
Officially, Disney said it wants to allow plenty of time for post-production considering that the tentpole will require extensive special effects to create its fantasy world and setpieces.

In addition, however, the move takes Prince of Persia out of the path of Transformers 2, which DreamWorks and Paramount open on June 26, 2009.

Default Scorpion 'Prince'

Lethal scorpion found on set of 'Prince of Persia'

Lethal scorpion sparks panic on the set of multi-million pound Disney film 'Prince of Persia'
Dangerous encounter: A deadly scorpion made an unwelcome visit to the set of Disney film 'Prince of Persia' starring Gemma Arterton and Jake Gyllenhaal

London Daily Mail
A lethal scorpion brought panic to the set of a multi-million pound Disney epic after it was found scurrying across a studio floor. Shooting of Disney movie Prince of Persia starring Gemma Arterton and Jake Gyllenhaal was disrupted after after the poisonous creature was spotted by a horrified member of studio staff with its sting aloft.

A studio insider speaking to the Daily Mail said yesterday filming was stopped after the scorpion was discovered - and there were fears more may have bred in the Buckinghamshire studio. 'It's a bit of a worry as the trucks came back from Morocco three weeks ago, so the worst case scenario is that it hatched here,' an insider said.

I just finished the newest game and it looks like they're trying to make the character look more like Jake Gyllenhaal. He much more ripped and has much bluer eyes.

I just can't picture Jake as the Prince of Persia. Just doesn't seem like a right fit.

^ Actually, he sort of works. I saw a behind the scenes look of the movie on ABC a month or two ago, and they made him look alot like how the Prince looked in Warrior Within.
