Default Self-styled Persian prince seeks movie role

Real Persian prince seeks movie role

Persian prince angling for movie role

Thaindian News
Disney top bosses are upset with Persian prince David K. Zandi, who is trying to beat out Orlando Bloom, Milo Ventimiglia and Zac Efron to star in the movie Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Zandi is a self-stylised Persian prince and he is reportedly passing around a “Worldwide Audience Poll” that shows him as the favourite of 17 million movie fans, pagesix.com reports. The film is an adaptation of the famous video game and will be directed by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Zandi said: “Most people are fascinated that a real Persian with royal lineage could be hired to play this role.” But a representative for Disney countered saying, “There is absolutely no truth to the rumour that Zandi is being considered. The speculation is self-created.”

Disney denies casting real Persian prince in Prince of Persia

Thaindian News
Disney execs have shot down the reports that they are considering casting a Persian prince in their next venture titled Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

Prince David K. Zandi is believed to be circulating an official-looking Worldwide Audience Poll that shows him the favourite of 17 million movie fans. Zandi had told a reporter “Most people are fascinated that a real Persian with royal lineage could be hired to play this role.

However, Disneys rep denies the reports. “There is absolutely no truth [to the rumour that Zandi is being considered]. The speculation is self-created,” New York Post quoted a rep as saying.

The film to be produced by Oscar winning producer Jerry Bruckheimer is the movie version of the video game.

Actors compete for Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time lead

Teen NOW
Orlando Bloom and Zac Efron are battling it out for the lead role in the new Disney action film. The heartthrobs are both eager to play the Persian prince in the adaptation of the video game Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time.

Pirates Of The Caribbean star Orlando, 31, and High School Musical actor Zac, 20, are both hoping to impress director Jerry Bruckheimer. The movie begins filming later this year for release in 2009.

Orlando Bloom might be able to do a good role with this one, being he resembles the video game character.

But Zac Efron!? You gotta be kidding me.

Well seeing as Orlando has already worked with Jerry on Pirates, would he not need to impress him that much? He did great in that role.

Not to mention isn't Efron still looking LIKE A TEENAGER?! Isn't the Prince of Persia AN ADULT?! I wouldn't mind staring at Efron's smile for an hour and a half, but come on! Bloom can look hot doing action sequences (see POTC and LOTR, non-believers), and Efron simply doesn't have that skill. If the Prince had to sing(which would alienate how much of the audience?), I'd let him have it, but otherwise give it to the elf.

Arrow Bloom rumor

ContactMusic says that Orlando Bloom has "allegedly" landed the title role. in a deal "reportedly" worth $40 million:

Orlando Bloom to be prince in multi-million dollar Disney deal

I dunno... I don't believe Disney would pay any actor $40 Million.

Eh, I wouldn't exactly go to 40 mill, but they'll pay a lot for that name, guys, and for one reason: it shall bring droves of fangirls to merchandise. Ever since Fellowship of the Ring, Orlando Bloom's popularity and fame kinda blasted off thanks to his looks. and PotC cemented that, so I'm sure he could maybe coax some sort of a deal. Just as long as Efron doesn't land it (or if he does, doesn't make the Prince look like a kid), I'm down with it.

I can see them spending 40 mil if Orlando gave up all merchandise and such royalties for his likeness. Then it may be a fair trade. Looking at it in the long term Disney might actually save money from it. Who knows... But yeah I don't think it's worth it to pay an actor/actress 40 mil just to play in a movie that costs maybe 100 mil to make. And considering that video game movies are a very big hit or miss on the big screen as far as making their money back, I too have to find this kinda far fetched. We'll see though.

Question Why Orlando Bloom? Why?

Why not a Persian? Why Orlando Bloom?

Although I don't think Prince Zandi, who's done what? one movie? should be thrown such a big bone; there are plenty of middle-eastern or southeast-asian actors who could make a big break with this. Bombay is loaded with talented stars. What about Hrithik Roshan or Salman Khan? Or just look around here at home. There's Saïd Taghmaoui (Hidalgo, Hideous Kinky), Naveen Andrews (The English Patient, Lost), just off the top of my head. I'm sure there's plenty of others.

Okay, Orlando Bloom..., meh. He's okay in a big ensemble cast with lots of special effects, etc. But I just can't see him carrying a picture himself. I think he's bland and boring. Can we please get someone less pasty? (Just my personal opinion.)

Angry Orlando Bloom rumor refuted (already!)

The $40M Orlando Bloom rumor has already been refuted:

Orlando Bloom is not in Prince of Persia — updated
Cinema Blend

I'm glad I posted it myself with a caveat instead of sending it though Tom Morrow.
(Sorry Tom, you only get to post bogus news on April 1st! )

Question New casting rumor — Jake Gyllenhaal

Latino Review posts this rumor:

Exclusive: Prince of Persia MIGHT BE a Jarhead!

Cinematical tried to confirm this, but got a "neither confirm nor deny" from Disney.

Which sounds slightly more like yes than what they said about Orlando Bloom: "There is no truth to the rumor."
