I warned you it wasn't going to stop with the ride...
But, y'know, they're going to do what they're going to do. They just better hope they keep coming up with new box office booming movies when the most recent ones become too aged. Riding on the coattails of Pirates & Pixar movies of this decade won't last forever.

Well at this point, I think they're just following consumer trends.
The gamble point was when they bet heavily on remaking MK's generally considered sub-par Pirates ride to include Jack Sparrow. That gamble paid off so well that Jack Sparrow was still on MK's park map over a year later. If that had failed, there wouldn't have been much of anything to turn to. Now, combine that with the perceived mega-success of the Pirate and Princess hard ticket party. That's another thing that's ridden on the coattails of the Pirates movies, and Disney is watching people pay them even more money, after Disney reduced the hours the guests already paid for, just to get those hours back at a hard ticket party event. To take a fledgling Moderate resort like Caribbean Beach and turn it Pirates is something of the next logical step, even though I wish they'd never gone down this road to begin with. -- PMM

Actually, rooms with actual themes are kind of fun... The hotel in West Edmonton Mall up here has rooms with several different themes - Caribbean, Victorian Coach, Railway, Arctic, Old West, Roman, etc. - and as a kid, it was always a highlight to stay in one of the "fun rooms". The armchair imagineer in me would even think that was a good idea for the Disneyland Hotel: theme floors to different rides and films, and then theme the rooms to different price points accordingly.
I don't know about a whole Pirates of the Caribbean Beach Resort, but it's really not so bad of an idea to have at least some themed rooms. |

^ The West Edmonton Mall is serious business. That place is pretty impressive.

They'll do as they please, boys, so I see no point in being too peeved abou this, and I agree with Cory, it they'd themed the floors in certain hotels to different films, it would be wicked sweet, as long as the theming didn't go too far, which... I think here it did. The beds were okay, the crates were okay... the curtains were what got me. If you're gonna theme it after pirates, then you should know that any pirate worth his salt wouldn't have torn sails!! That's why they know sewing, they have to patch the sails so the wind doesn't just slip through the cuts in the sails!

OK... I hope they really don't have big or even small holes in their curtains to make it seem like tattered sails because that would be so annoying to wake up to a beam of sunlight shooting through and hitting you in the face. I would be quite unhappy.

the problem they have is that they are soiling the resorts originality with their gaudy product placment. the same thing that angered you when it came to the nemo pavillion. imagine if you had a favorite resort. one you go to all the time and love for it's originality and so on... my favorite resort for example is beach club so I'll use that as an example. imagine if the resort got a relift on the rooms to make it purely Finding Nemo. I mean gaudy gaudy additions to the room. if you commonly visit only one resort each trip, you'd understand that you can grow attached to a resort like it's home. unlike the parks, they don't change that much aside from different sheets and comforters. the pirate room looks cheap. I mean boxes for furtniture. thats the thing I would tend to avoid doing. tattred curtains. seriously. I love room theming. I think it is a great Idea. (disney is still beating a dead horse with POTC though. sometimes you wish they'd shut up about the movies they got lucky with). .. but all in all, the room needs work. those are the type of rooms I'd try to avoid. they should go more subtle on the theming if they plan to refurb.
