Partying with Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus? $250

Orange County Register
Cyrus, wildly popular among elementary schoolers and pre-teens as a singer and Disney Channel sitcom star, will celebrate her birthday at the park from 6 to 11 p.m. The park closes that night at 5 p.m., and only ticketholders are allowed in during the party. Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Pacific time Aug. 30. Click here to order (disneyparks.com/miley)

Now THAT is a smart business movie. After all, people did spend thousands of dollars on tickets to her tour. Imagine how much this'll rake in.

This isn't really fair. Why should Disney close the ENITRE park JUST for her!? The CM's say Happy Birthday to you on yours, but Miley, just because she is loved by Wal-Mart, gets the entire park to herself.

Great, just what I need. Little Ms. Miley enjoying her sweet 16 at my favorite place in the world. Yeah, like I'd spend that much money just to see Miley. Do you think she even wants to spend it at Disneyland?

I shoot up the BLAB board and TSMM board and they don't shut down BLAB and TSMM just for me...or let me go to the front of the line...why should Cyrus be any different?

Ev
I bet they'll change "Remember Dreams Come True" into "Best of Both Worlds Fireworks Spectacular". Well I hope she's happy. Not everyone gets to have the park all to themselves after all.

Ya know, it might be a great idea for a big fan for her but I read that the price of the ticket does NOT include park admission. I think that stinks!

Cool Private events

Anybody can have the park closed for a private event, if they have enough money. Last year the Travel Industry Association had it's conference there:

Disneyland Park to close early April 22 & May 19 '07

What's the point of having Sweet 16 Birthday parties?....
"Oh hey congrats, you're 16 now... We'll have a huge party for you.. Because it's almost two more years before you can vote and all that hoopla. Cheers to almost adulthood."

This is ridiculous... It's like Disney is worshiping her like she's some sort of Goddess or the New face of Disney.. Just smack dabbed over Mickey's silhouette right there.

Thumbs up Ugh.

There are SO many things wrong with this that I can't even start to go into it.

Okay, just a little.

I posted my complete thoughts on it in my band's blog.

Really, this is so completely elitist and jawdroppingly "look at me" that I just can't keep my food down.

One example as to why this is so, so wrong... I am a musician, and therefore absolutely LOATHE this character with all of my professional fiber. But, for those who are REAL FANS of Destiny Hope, do you think that any of them who are from normal, working-class families (the majority of the fan base) are going to be able to afford to see this show? Let's put it realistically: The tickets go on sale at $250. The scalpers buy them all. The tickets are now only available for $500 to $750 each the day after they go on sale. I have NEVER paid such an exorbitant amount of money for a show... even when the lead person had talent. Which Destiny Hope doesn't.

And making people pay that much for a show like this is also a way to pay for DVD production. It'll be completely covered. You all do understand that this is actually a DVD shoot, right? And what better way to insure that you get the "right" crowd (wink, wink) for the DVD than to charge a ridiculous amount of money for the show? Casting, crew and set are paid for. Great.

I could go on and on, talking about how it's being promoted as a charity event, when we know that "Charity" is code for "Corporate Tax Break", etc., etc., etc.... I just hope that there aren't too many families who had already booked their vacations for the 4th, 5th or 6th of October, because their vacations are now officially ruined... unless they know someone famous or can cough up an extra 4 grand for 4 tickets by the week of the show.
