Default Disney Music exhibit in Vancouver BC

Disney Music exhibit in Vancouver BC

Science World gets Disney

The Vancouver Province
A whole new world of musical wonders opens at Science World today. Disney: The Music Behind the Magic, created by the Experience Music Project in Seattle, displays more than 65 rare artifacts from the Disney archives, including the handwritten score of the first Mickey Mouse cartoon Steamboat Willie, released in 1928, to the blue floral dress worn by Vanessa Hudgens in High School Musical.

Ooooo maybe I'll be able to go see it again! I saw the exhibit at the EMP when it was there, but I was only able to go once.

I live here and I am a member of Science World and we are going for a sneak peak of the exhibt.

I will post pictures when I come back!
I personally studied music in University and love that two of my favorite things are combined!

Any one who comes up to see the event or interested in coming to Vancouver PM me and I will gladly help out!

That sounds awesome-too bad I am not going to Vancover any time soon. I wish something like that would come out to California.

I'd love to go, but... I won't be getting to Vancouver anytime soon. Pity, I plan to do sound editing and FX, so this sort of thing would be quite educational for me.

i went today and it was pretty cool, however i had pretty low expectations with the current state of the exhibits at science world - anyway, that's a rant for another time

they had 6 different sections

television
-mostly about HSM, Cheetah Girls, etc

music challenge
-mix of trivia questions - I pwned everyone there cause i'm obsessed

animation
-all about the different disney films, including full length and shorts

records
-about the different soundtracks and disney music

sound effects
-a place where you can record sound effects that are supposed to go in "The Band Concert" then you get to see the cartoon with your sound effects

broadway
-lion king costumes and the blue dress belle wore in beauty and the beast

there were lots of artifacts including
-the barker bird
-3 art pieces (2 Marc Davis and 1 Mary Blair)
-the jackets Dick Van Dyke and the kid wore in the carousel scene in Mary Poppins
-vanessa hudgens dress from HSM
-lots of original sheet music/demo tapes/storyboards
-tons of other stuff

hint: don't sit and watch the four short movies - go and see the long one in the Science theatre instead - it's all of them together

My sister and I had a good time - there's other things to do and there are several other exhibits to see at SW as well.

I am going to head down there some time this month. Can't wait to see it all. I just got back from working in Walt Disney World, and would love to see some of this stuff in my own city! Can't wait. I will post some pics after I do go.
